Worms Rumble Update Adds Team Deathmatch Mode | Game Rant

Worms Rumble continues to roll out new content, as Team Deathmatch hit servers today. Today’s update features the brand-new game mode along with network improvements and Worms Rumble’s first double XP weekend.

Team Deathmatch is the latest mode to hit Worms Rumble, splitting players into two teams of 12 competing to rack up the most kills. The new mode will take place on smaller versions of the game’s current maps. Players will also notice deadly storms sitting at the edge of the maps, typically seen in Worms’ battle-royale Last Worm Standing game mode.

Team 17 is celebrating the launch of Team Deathmatch with its first Worms Rumble double XP weekend. Players looking to expand their cosmetic collection can take advantage of the double XP gains to earn in-game gear to customize their gun-toting worm soldiers. The double XP weekend ends Monday, February 1, at 10 am EST.

Additional fixes are also included in the update to address issues commonly reported by the community. Several crash issues have been patched and network improvements have been implemented in order to ensure a smoother online experience.

Team 17 has released steady content updates for Worms Rumble since launch, including last month’s Deadly Docks expansion. The update included the “Deadly Docks” map, as well as a slew of themed cosmetics available for purchase through microtransactions.

Worms Rumble has been met with a mixed reception among players after its release as a free PS Plus game in December. Worms Rumble is a major departure from the turn-based combat long-time fans of the series have grown accustomed to. The game instead features the fast-paced, real-time combat found in mainstream titles. The switch to real-time combat and the inclusion of modern battle-royale elements has left some fans of the classic Worms combat a bit disappointed, as Team 17 attempts to reach a new market. Whether Team 17 has plans to release a Worms title featuring classic turn-based mechanics remains to be seen.

Worms Rumble is out now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
