Established Pokemon Leaker Denies Diamond and Pearl Let’s Go Remake Rumors

If the release patterns of past Pokemon games are anything to go off of, it’s likely that fans can expect remakes of the series’ 4th generation games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl very soon. Since the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC Expansions for Sword and Shield were released in 2020 instead of a new installment in the series, Pokemon fans have speculated that Diamond and Pearl remakes are up next and will be released late 2021.

It goes without saying that this gossip comes hand-in-hand with speculation, and it seems that a new rumor regarding Diamond and Pearl remakes pops up nearly every week. Now, a recent supposed leak stating that generation 4 remakes on the Nintendo Switch will feature Let’s Go-like catching mechanics is being denied by a prominent Pokemon leaker.

Over on Twitter, Pokemon leaker Centro Pokemon LEAKS has denied the claims that Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes will feature Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! style catching mechanics, and instead reaffirms that the remakes will function like other mainline Pokemon titles. In their most recent tweets, Centro Pokemon also denies the existence of a supposed Let’s Go game engine.

The recent leak being refuted by Centro Pokemon has gained traction by correctly predicting not only the existence of a Galarian form for the 1st generation Pokemon Mr. Mime and its new evolution, but also the way that fossils would work in Pokemon Sword and Shield ahead of the games’ releases. While the supposed leak states that Diamond and Pearl remakes would release in 2020, many defending the leak have stated that the remakes were simply pushed back due to complications related to COVID-19. However, Centro Pokemon claims that the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC Expansions were already in development before Sword and Shield released and were not a result of the pandemic, meaning that generation 4 remakes were planned to release in 2021 from the start.

Further, the Pokemon leaker claimed that there is no reason to believe that Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! utilize a different engine, stating that the games use the same game engine as Sword and Shield. Further, the leaker affirms that and Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes will also use that same engine. Centro Pokemon has gained traction by previously leaking information on Sword and Shield‘s beta, the new legendary Pokemon included in the Crown Tundra DLC, and information regarding the upcoming Pokemon MOBA, Pokemon Unite.

While Game Freak and The Pokemon Company haven’t confirmed Diamond and Pearl remakes just yet, many fans expect to see some sort of announcement soon given the franchise’s 25th anniversary coming up just next month. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what Pokemon‘s 25th anniversary has in store for fans in 2021.
