With February rolling around, players can expect a number of gaming events to get stuck into this month. Little Nightmares 2 will be launching, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will hit Switch, and both Control: Ultimate Edition and Destruction AllStars will be up for grabs on PlayStation Plus tomorrow for no additional cost. However, adamant Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans are probably wondering what they can expect from February.
As always, the new month brings with it a host of returning bugs, fish, and sea creatures for those still exploring their Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, with February set to bring back seven creatures for those playing in the Southern Hemisphere and one returning face for those playing in the Northern Hemisphere. Catching these creepy crawlies and seafaring critters and donating them to the museum can be achieved at any time throughout the month, so luckily, players won’t have to rush.
As for what’s available now, Northern Hemisphere players will see the return of the tiger beetle, which can be found on the ground at any time of day. They can be sold for a respectable 1,500 bells at Tom Nook‘s store. Meanwhile, Southern Hemisphere players can expect a whole bunch of critters, including the Soft-shelled Turtle, which can be caught in the river, as well as both the Moray Eel and the Ray, which can both be fished out of the sea. Meanwhile, the Migratory Locust and Rice Grasshopper bugs can be discovered roaming on the ground, while the Walker Cicada will now pop up on trees. Finally, there’s the Flatworm, which players will be able to discover as they dive in the ocean.
With the seasons changing, players can expect even more new bugs and sea creatures to appear in the coming months. Players can also look forward to the upcoming Festivale event, which will officially debut on February 15. Before the event drops, however, players should also take advantage of the Valentine’s Day themed content, including items like flower bouquets and chocolates.
New Horizons itself still remains a permanent fixture of the Switch’s current lineup despite dropping almost a year ago, topping the UK’s physical release sales charts again last week. It seems it’s been an asset to the Nintendo Switch, shifting millions of copies and quickly becoming one of the most talked-about games throughout 2020. It’ll be intriguing to see how Nintendo continues to utilize the brand going forward into the new year, especially as it remains such a hot commodity.
