The 24-year anniversary of the original Final Fantasy 7 release brought fans more information about the new remake, from Co-Director Naoki Hamaguchi, and Producer Yoshinori Kitase. Hamaguchi and Kitase discussed some of their plans for the upcoming sequel as well as some insight into how Final Fantasy 7 Remake has shaped the future of the sequel.

When discussing the level of detail in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Hamaguchi states “For example, in the original game, you didn’t really have a sense of what it would look like to gaze up at the plate from the viewpoint of the slums, but we were able to visualize that in the Remake. In Part 2, we want to take that type of detail and allow users to experience how they experienced Midgar in the Remake, but with the rest of the world.” The interviewer asked for clarification that Hamaguchi was referring to the world outside of Midgar, to which he replied “That’s correct. Unfortunately, that is all I can reveal about Part 2 right now.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Producer, Kitase, talked about how they want to change the story in a good way. Kitase states “Those who played the original game probably know what happens in the story and are curious as to what will happen now.” He goes on to say “However, because they know the story, this gives us the opportunity to deliver them something they expect that allows them to think ‘oh, so this is what actually happened!’ yet also show them something that not only surprises, but also goes beyond their expectations. Because we have the original game already, if we can express these elements well, it can turn into something that users can definitely look forward to! We did this in Part 1 too. For those who played Part 1, they already have an idea of what kind of game we are making. We want to create a game that lives up to their expectations but also throws them off, in a good way though.”

While fans may be still be anxious for more details regarding the Final Fantasy 7 Remake sequel, they at least have some idea of what the future holds. Even with the limited amount of information, it is still good to hear positive progress is being made on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Sequel. Rumors are also circulating regarding the end of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake‘s, PS4 exclusivity, this could potentially bring the game to other platforms.
