And there are bonuses for people playing in the first two weeks after release.
Respawn and EA’s free-to-play battle royale hit Apex Legends is set to come to Nintendo Switch in March.
The news was confirmed by EA, who said that the game was launching on the machine on March 9 with cross-play support. Players who buy the Season 8 Battle Pass will be given 30 free levels and those who play the Switch edition will earn double XP for the two weeks after release, to help them catch up with other platforms.
Porting is being handled by Panic Button, who has also brought the likes of 2016’s Doom, Wolfenstein 2 and Warframe to Nintendo Switch.
“Porting Apex Legends to its smallest screen yet is a major achievement, and we couldn’t have done it without our friends at Panic Button,” Apex Legends game director Chad Grenier said.
“We’re very proud of what the team has been able to achieve with some smart optimizations for the Switch port to deliver a full-featured Apex Legends experience on the go.
“We can’t wait to welcome Switch players to the arena. Keep an eye out for more news about the latest updates we’re bringing to Apex Legends.”
News that Apex Legends was coming to Switch broke in June 2020 alongside EA revealing the battle royale romp would be coming to Steam, too.
The Nintendo Switch edition was seemingly delayed from the end off 2020 before rumours started to emerge at the start of this year that Apex Legends would be coming to the console within Season 8. That kicked off yesterday (Tuesday, February 2).
An Apex Legends-branded Switch controller recently appearing on Amazon was also a pretty strong indication that the game’s launch was imminent.
