Ever since the first transformers movie, Optimus Prime has been dishing out speeches and his speeches, like his fighting skills, have become one of the major reasons fans love him so much. His speeches are geared towards giving hope to those in despair, championing justice, and inspiring the autobots to fight for what they believe is right.
When he gives a speech before a battle, anyone watching suddenly feels the urge to fight. About a year ago, Optimus trended on twitter in the “battle of the speeches” where he was compared to Captain America in that regard. Unsurprisingly, Optimus won! Now Let’s take a look at his top 10 best speeches.
10 Fate Rarely Calls Us At The Moment Of Our Choosing
When a small piece of the AllSpark was stolen, Optimus contacts Sam for help in convincing the human leaders that the autobots will fight for them. Sam replied that he was not an “alien ambassador” and declined to help them. Sam believed that Optimus was strong and wise enough to solve any problem. But before Sam left Optimus said to him, “fate rarely calls us at the moment of our choosing.”
9 There’s More To Them Than Meets The Eye
The US forces had a hard time coping with the advanced weapons of the Decepticons but the Autobots were able to even out the battlefield. During the battle over possession of the AllSpark, Megatron was defeated and the AllSpark was destroyed. After the battle, Optimus gave a speech about the humans’ capacity for courage and also pointed out that like them, there’s more to humans than meets the eye. After saying this, he invited other Autobots to Earth.
8 In Those Memories, We Live on
After being revived, Optimus brought the war to an end by defeating Megatron and killing The Fallen. The Earth was saved once again by the joint efforts of the Autobots and Humans. Before all that, the AllSpark had been destroyed and The Transformers lost all of their recorded history.
On their way back from the battlefield in Egypt, Optimus said that though their history has been forgotten, Humans and Autobots shall face the future together and he added, “Our pasts should always be remembered for in those memories we live on.”
7 In Any War, There Are Calms Between Storms
Optimus killed Megatron and Sentinel and brought the battle of Chicago to an end. Sam was reunited with his girlfriend and everyone was relieved that the gruesome battle was over. To reassure his allies, Optimus said to them, “In any war, there are calms between storms.” He also told them, that though they turned against them, the Autobots were never going to forsake the humans.
6 Freedom Is The Right Of All Sentient Beings
Though Optimus comes from a technologically superior race to humans, he strongly believes that everyone has the right to their freedom. This is quite amazing because together, the transformers are powerful enough to dominate the human race. When asked why he even bothers to fight for the humans, Optimus replied, “Freedom is the right of all Sentient beings.” If only the decepticons had the same mentality, there wouldn’t have been so much destruction.
5 It Is Time To Come Home
After the victorious battle at Cybertron, Optimus and the other autobots, as well as Cade and Vivian were able to make it out of the crumbling planet. They met up with the soldiers that had already made it out. Then Optimus began to talk.
His speech was comforting and reassuring as he urged everyone to look towards a brighter future for both worlds. After this he told his autobots that it was time to come home to Cybertron. Hopefully that won’t be where the franchise ends.
4 Today You Stand With Us Or You Stand Against Me
The humans and Autobots were overwhelmed by the number of enemies that they had to fight so Optimus had to call for reinforcements. He tried persuading the Dinobots to fight for them saying that their creators want them exterminated. They needed to join forces to fight the enemy on earth as well as confront their creators later. To conclude his speech Optimus said to the Dinobots, “Today you stand with us or you stand against me.” After this he fought the T-rex Dinobot and after defeating it, they joined forces and took the enemy by storm.
3 Today, In The Name Of Freedom, We’ll Take The Battle To Them!
The Autobots seemed to have been wiped out in a surprise attack by Starscream. This was a futile effort because the Autobots were never in the airship that blew up. They were able to sneak behind enemy lines and encountered Sam and rescued him. Sam was shocked to see them alive even after he saw their airship blow up. There Optimus explains to Sam that the decepticons are not to be trusted and Optimus declared that they were going to take the fight to the decepticons.
2 Our Finest Hour
Optimus had regained his consciousness after his was turned into Nemesis Prime after which the Autobots and Knights gathered in their preparation to storm Cybertron. Optimus gave a very powerful speech that inspired his comrades to fight for both worlds. He even volunteered to lead the way into Quintessa’s ignition chamber. The last sentence in his speech was exactly this; “Let those who exist long after us know, that this was our finest hour.” There’s no way anybody there could have been left uninspired after that!
1 Leave Planet Earth Alone
The autobots were victorious after the battle to stop Lockdown the bounty hunter and save mankind from its own creations . Optimus was able to get his hands on the seed that would have been used to bring about the extermination of the humans. After saying farewell to the autobots and his human friends, he parted ways with them, but not without some words of encouragement and reassurance. He ended this epistle by saying that his creators should leave planet Earth alone for he was coming for them.
