Microsoft has been ambitious in updating and adding new games to its Xbox Game Pass service. For instance, the service just added touch controls to 13 Xbox Game Pass games, though the company isn’t immune to making mistakes along the way. As of late yesterday, fans have seen what appears to be the addition of every Xbox game and movie to Game Pass.
Roughly a week ago, Microsoft faced vocal backlash from its fanbase following the announcement that it would be raising the price of Xbox Live Gold. Since backtracking on that, the company has mostly recovered and even celebrated recent successes. According to a Microsoft earnings call, Xbox Game Pass currently boasts 18 million subscribers.
Upon accessing the Microsoft Store in the last few days, some of those users noticed that every game and movie on the service was listed as “included with Xbox Game Pass.” Noticing the mishap and taking advantage of a precarious situation, fans took to social media to detail their findings. Some were quick to point out that, much to their dismay, the store still required visitors to buy the games not actually included with the service.
Although Microsoft hasn’t publicly acknowledged the incident, it’s more than likely the store is suffering from a display glitch. Microsoft is actively adding and removing games from the service, and a legitimate move of this caliber would have likely taken over social media. For now, the idea of every game suddenly being available on Xbox Game Pass too good to be true.
Even still, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate remains one of the best deals in gaming, with future first-party games debuting on the service the day they release. Microsoft is constantly adding new perks and features to bring in subscribers, including access to some popular anime like Dragon Ball Super and next-gen exclusive horror game The Medium.
The value behind Xbox Game Pass in comparison to Xbox Live Gold has left some feeling that the latter is irrelevant, especially with free-to-play games no longer needing Xbox Live Gold. With rumors indicating Microsoft may make Xbox Live Gold multiplayer free, many fans are hoping the company does away with the service.
On the other hand, February 2021’s Xbox Live Gold offerings were seen as an improvement over previous months. Subscribers received a total of five games instead of four that included titles widely beloved by players, namely Gears 5 optimized for the Xbox Series X. Time will tell what comes to Xbox Game Pass next, though it likely won’t be every game in Microsoft’s library.
