Overwatch players waiting for a new event to play will not have to wait any longer, as the Year of the Ox is live now. To celebrate the popular Overwatch event’s return, Blizzard highlights everything that will be available to do and unlock over the next few weeks.
The trailer begins by highlighting a new emote for the Overwatch mascot Tracer, and it sees the hero wearing the large dragon head seen in a previous highlight intro. Doing the same dance as she does in her Play of the Game video, the cute emote should quickly become a fan favorite for those that main the hero. A highlight intro for Symmetra is also shown, which sees her creating an Ox with her hard-light technology — sending it off into the sky afterwards.
The trailer then moves into highlighting the special skins that will be available in this year’s Lunar New Year event, with Bastion immediately stealing the show via a special dragon design. Placing a large dragon head on the character’s chest that will stand out even more in the hero’s tank and turret forms, the skin is by far one of the most unique designs the heroic omnic has ever seen. Sporting a cute helmet on its head and a longer barrel for its gun, Bastion fans have a new skin to hunt after.
The next skin highlighted has already been shown in a separate teaser, with bull-demon Orisa given the spotlight. Dropping her ultimate and showing off the ring in her nose as well as the fur on her head, this skin is like Bastion’s in the sense that it is very different from her normal cosmetics. A new skin for Widowmaker is then shown, giving the hero a white attire and pale skin to match. The sniper then uses a fan, which could be used as a new emote or victory pose.
Two more known skins are then shown, though they are still just as eye-catching as they were in the reveal. Tiger Huntress Ashe is shown alongside her big cat version of Bob, with the duo only outdone by the feathery version of Echo shown afterwards. A D.Va highlight intro that was previously shown also makes an appearance, with the weekly win challenges revealed next. In week one, players can earn an awesome Baptiste skin that turns him into a statue, while week two gives McCree a raven-like cloak. Reaper is week three’s skin challenge, sporting a new mask and red hood.
A new Overwatch brawl called Bounty Hunter rounds out the trailer, showing all players hunting one hero in a unique free for all contest. The Capture the Flag mode will also be available, giving players plenty to do inside the game until February 25.
Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
