Here is everything Stardew Valley fans need to know about what happens during the Egg Festival and how to master the Egg Hunt and come out on top.

10 The First Festival Of The Year

There are several different festivals to attend throughout the year in Stardew Valley‘s Pelican Town. There are two festivals in the Spring, two in the Summer, two in the Fall, and three in the Winter.

The Egg Festival is actually the first festival of the year in Stardew Valley. These days are different because on festival days, the game will automatically consider animals fed. This is because players might not have time to do all of their daily chores and still attend the event on time.

9 When Does It Begin?

On the day before the festival, players will receive a letter from Mayor Lewis. The letter lets the player know that the festival will occur the following day and recommends that they attend so that they don’t miss out on the annual egg hunt.

The festival takes place on the 13th of Spring, and the player can participate as long as they come to the Pelican Town Square between 9 am and 2 pm. This means that, just like any other festival that occurs before 7 pm, the player does not have access to any buildings or homes.

8 The Booth At The Egg Festival

There is a booth at the Egg Festival that allows players to buy special event items. Some of these are available during other events, but some can only be obtained during this particular event.

For example, there is one crop seed that can only be purchased at the event’s booth. And that is strawberries. In order to get strawberries seeds at first is actually at the Egg Festival. Once the player harvests their first strawberry they can then use the seed maker to generate more seeds. However, they are only available for purchase at the booth on the 13th of Spring for 100 gold.

7 How Does The Egg Hunt Work?

There is a booth selling special event items and there are different conversations to be had with the villagers. But, there’s no denying the fact that the Egg Hunt is the main attraction and the best part of the Egg Festival.

The eggs have been painted in various colors and hidden around the town. The point of the competition is to gather as many eggs as possible within a time limit. All of the participants will have 50 seconds to find as many eggs as they can.

6 How Many Eggs Do You Need?

There are a few villagers that will participate in the Egg Hunt. Multiplayer makes it even more competitive. So, there has to be a decent number of Egg Hunt eggs scattered around Pelican Town for it to be enough for everybody to find a few.

There are 26 eggs hidden around Pelican Town. It is a good amount of eggs, especially considering that the players only have 50 seconds to find as many as they can. This way, no one feels left out and it’s always a lot of fun to try and collect different eggs each year.

5 How To Win Single Player

There are 50 seconds on the timer during the Egg Hunt. In order to win, the player must find at least nine eggs before the timer runs out.

Although 50 seconds seems like a lot of time, there are 26 eggs in total. So, it is pointless to even try to find all of the eggs, there is just not enough time. The smartest way to play is to look at a map of the egg locations online and plan out what the player thinks is the optimal route to take.

4 How To Win Multiplayer

It’s usually harder to collect as many eggs in multiplayer because there will be more players competing for the same amount of eggs. However, winning in multiplayer doesn’t require as many eggs. Six eggs are required to win if there are 2 players, 5 if there are 3 players, and 4 if there are 4 players.

If two or more players manage to win the egg hunt, then everyone will receive the reward, this means that if there’s a tie then everybody wins the same prize.

3 The Final Prize

If it’s the player’s first time winning the Egg Hunt, they will receive a Straw Hat as a reward for being the player that collected the most amount of eggs. However, if the player has already won the Egg Hunt in previous years, they will receive 1,000 gold.

In the case of multiplayer, the player with the most eggs will win the prize. However, if the players collect the same amount of eggs and there’s a tie, each player will receive a prize, be it a hat or gold.

2 What Happens If You Lose?

If none of the players manage to collect enough eggs to win, they will be defeated. In this case, Abigail will always be the Egg Hunt winner. If it’s their first time winning, the player will only have a chance to win the Straw Hat the following year on the next Egg Hunt.

One strategy that fans have followed is to play a multiplayer game and have one of the players distract Abigail as the others collect eggs and win the competition with a lot more ease.

1 When Does It End?

Once gamers have finished the Egg Hunt and purchased everything they want to take home from The Booth, it’s time to go home and sleep for the night.

So, how can the player leave the Egg Festival? The event will end as soon as the player decides to talk to Mayor Lewis after the Egg Hunt. Once it ends, the player will find themselves back at their farm and the in-game clock will skip to 10 pm. Every year, the town will host a new Egg Festival.
