WandaVision Showrunner Talks Season 2 Possibility | Game Rant

Marvel Studios’ WandaVision has been massively popular on Disney Plus, with the five episodes it has aired so far. With only four episodes of the season to go, WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer answers questions about Easter Eggs, writing, and the possibility of a season two.

When asked whether there will be a season two of WandaVision during an interview with The AV Club, Jac Schaeffer laughs and says, “I wish I could answer that. I cannot. It is just my hope that people continue to watch and enjoy the season that we’ve got.” This level of secrecy is common with Marvel properties, but especially not surprising when it comes to WandaVision. It’s been confirmed that the show is setting up Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, so both the outcomes of the show itself and what happens in the Doctor Strange movie will contribute to the possibility of a second season.

WandaVision has been full of hints and Easter Eggs so far, and Schaffer says that the way that these things come to be in the show is “an interesting process.” “I mean there’s plenty that’s on the page right, so like the commercials, it says Hydrasoak, like in the text, and there’s the tagline and everything,” she explains. “But that is long before the director is involved, and then certainly before the department heads are involved, and all of those people bring like an extra layer of spice. Specifically with props, and also with wardrobe and production design.” Schaeffer says that all the craftspeople know the entirety of the story and what they are doing with the show, which allows for them to add “all this additional texture.”

WandaVision isn’t the only Marvel project that Schaeffer has worked on. She has also worked on Captain Marvel and on the upcoming Black Widow movie. When asked what she likes about working on female superhero projects, she says, “I like writing women…and I also like writing an allegory. That for me is what it means to write a female superhero, is that I’m writing women first, and then there are all of these crazy layers of science fiction and fantasy and social commentary, and it’s all so outsized, and it actually makes it kind of easier to examine the issues that interest me.”

WandaVision is certainly full of interesting female characters, between Wanda herself, Darcy Lewis, Monica Rambeau, and even Westview neighbors Agnes and Dottie. Each of these characters are a different piece of the puzzle that is WandaVision. There are many possibilities for their roles to develop throughout the rest of season one, and, maybe one day, a season two.

WandaVision is now streaming on Disney Plus.
