Nioh 2 PC Players Reporting Performance Issues | Game Rant

It looks like the port of Nioh 2 for PC has a few issues that are giving trouble to players. The action game by Team Ninja aims to challenge gamers, but problems in Nioh 2 for PC cross the line.

As a twist on Soulslike gameplay, the game provides deep combat and tough boss battles. While collecting weapons and armor is key to success, Nioh 2 also puts a focus on fast reflexes, moment-to-moment decision making, and plenty of game sense. Unfortunately, some oversights by Team Ninja when it comes to the PC port are adding unintended obstacles to the experience.

The problem started coming to light from the variety of negative reviews on the gaming marketplace Steam. Despite Nioh 2’s great reviews on console, is seeing less than desirable reception on the PC platform. The majority of the complaints come from a disappointing level of performance throughout the game. While PC build strength can vary, even those with quality rigs are reporting frame rate drops. Some games can get away with choppy frame rate, but a high-speed action game like this demands smooth visuals. This means that players are having to manually downgrade the settings in-game to achieve playable action.

Another issue with the PC port is the lack of corresponding button inputs. Gamers are describing how the button prompts still assume a controller is in use. For those playing with a keyboard and mouse, understanding button presses for weapon types in Nioh 2 is difficult. With complex mechanics requiring combos and instant reflexes, not knowing the right key adds unnecessary difficulty. Players are lamenting how they need to constantly view the key bind settings menu to know the correct inputs.

These problems are going to be fairly significant for anyone playing the game. Both involve issues that won’t be ignorable when trying to engage in challenging combat. Regardless of the type of game, frame rate drops are never ideal. Turning fantastic graphics into a messy slideshow is going to be noticeable in any scenario. And the controller inputs for the PC port is a questionable oversight from Team Ninja. No amount of Nioh 2 pro tips will help players when the game cannot detect the right control method.

That said, the reviews are currently mixed because there are those who are offering positive remarks. It turns out that PC players should be familiar with the input problem because it also occurred in the original Nioh port. Plus, with the range of computer hardware out there, some are not as devastated by the performance. By tweaking a few minor in-game settings, certain players can achieve a decent output. At the very least, each problem seems like something that Team Ninja could improve if given some time to patch Nioh 2.

Nioh 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
