Rumor: Battlefield 6 Will Have Battle Pass, Free-to-Play Element

The Battlefield 6 rumors keep flooding in. With EA officially confirming the release of a new Battlefield for holiday 2021 recently, there seems to be no shortage of leaks and information regarding EA’s massive multiplayer shooter. Although the reveal of the game will come later this spring, one leaker is claiming they have the goods on many details for Battlefield 6.

In a recent YouTube video, leaker Tom Henderson lays out everything they apparently know about the upcoming game. While recent rumors of Battlefield 6 point to a possible modern-day setting, another attempt at a battle royale, and more, Henderson’s leak doubles down on some of these details while even throwing in additional tidbits.

As far as a rumor that Henderson seems to confirm with the video, Battlefield 6 and the evolution of levolution is a big part of it. With fully destructible buildings, structures in Battlefield 6 may stand out beyond being where objectives take place in. Additionally, the familiar squads will apparently return, as players will be able to use the Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes.

A big reveal in Henderson’s leak video is that Battlefield 6 will have battle passes seasons, each lasting about 8 to 10 weeks. This would make a lot of sense, since multiple popular games like Apex Legends utilize a seasonal model. And when competing with the likes of that battle royale or Call of Duty, it would make a lot of sense to also have seasonal battle passes.

Battlefield 6 will also apparently incorporate crossplay between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Additionally, as long as PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are released -and it would make the most sense financially for EA to do so- those versions would also implement crossplay.

Henderson also states in the video that some sort of free-to-play functionality will come into play with Battlefield 6. The best guess is that the game will have a battle royale. The hope is that it will do better than Firestorm, the battle royale that was in Battlefield 5. Even as the mode was launched months after the full game, to make sure it was in working condition, it did not find success. Battlefield 6′s battle royale will have plenty of competition from established games in the genre; making it free would be a good place to start.

All of the leaks and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. For now, nothing is confirmed. More information will come with the official reveal in the coming months, and even then fans will likely not learn all of the information. But that does not mean that it is not fun to speculate, and many times where there is smoke, there is fire.

Battlefield 6 is in development for unspecified platforms.
