Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is celebrating Valentine’s Day, and a reimagined game mode will be included as part of the festivities. The mode arrives in a few days, and it will see Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans collecting something other than dog tags while playing Kill Confirmed.
This is not the first time a Call of Duty game is seeing some seasonal changes made to Kill Confirmed. During the Halloween season in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, dog tags turned into skulls. A fitting change for the spooky setting, the small visual change kept the seasonal theme alive — and it seems Treyarch took inspiration from Infinity Ward’s holiday setup.
The Team Deathmatch variant will see players confirming their kills by picking up candy hearts instead of dog tags, with an official blog post showing the hearts in action. As is tradition with the mode, teammates will drop blue hearts while enemies drop red ones. With the signature “Be Mine” text of candy hearts seen on the reskinned tags, the large sweets look much like they do in real life, and they should be fun for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players to hunt down.
The special playlist goes live this Thursday, which is the usual time for playlist updates in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It will continue until February 18, giving players a full week to try it out. In the middle of its run time, players will be given access to a Double Weapon XP weekend. From February 12 to February 15, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans can rank up their weapons quickly with Kiss Confirmed and the other game modes of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
There will also be some special new bundles in the game’s shop this week, with both centered on the holidays. The “Year of the Ox” bundle will be centered on providing players with some items based on the Lunar New Year, including two golden weapon blueprints. A Mardi Gras bundle will be available as well, while the Valentines-themed “Top-Secret Admirer” bundle brings players a pink tactical rifle and sniper that would fit perfectly inside Kiss Confirmed’s romantic aesthetic.
Whether players are interested in Valentine’s cosmetics or the special Kill Confirmed variant, logging into Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on February 8 should be worthwhile. With Call of Duty Mobile introducing a Valentine’s Day bundle as well, it seems like Call of Duty fans on all platforms will be able to get into the holiday spirit this week.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
