Incredibly Long Meowth Plush Available Now | Game Rant

After 25 years in the spotlight, it goes without saying that the highest grossing media franchise in the world has brought quite a lot of merchandise along with it. Pokemon first hit the mainstream in the form of Game Boy games with Pokemon Red and Blue, but a trading card game featuring the franchise’s many monsters, an anime filled with adventure, and much more followed soon after.

Although Pokemon cards have been all the rage recently, it seems that The Pokemon Company has also been quite busy in the plush merchandise department. And while Pokemon plush have almost always been around, constantly appearing online and on store shelves, the franchise has been getting more and more creative with their plush recently, now releasing a hilariously long Meowth plush.

This massively long Meowth plush comes just after the announcement of a Gengar plush that lets fans sleep on its lengthy tongue. The latest mainline Pokemon games, Sword and Shield, introduced fans to the Gigantamax phenomenon, which sees some Pokemon change form as they grow incredibly large. Now, the official Pokemon Center website is offering a 65 in., or well over 5 ft. long, Gigantamax Meowth Plush.

The Pokemon Center website notes that the new Meowth plush is one of the largest plush available from the official website, and is a 1:20 scale version of the giant Pokemon from Sword and Shield. Though the plush appears to be out of stock now, fans located in the U.S. or Canada were able to purchase it for $299.99. The Gigantamax phenomenon introduced fans to a lot of interesting new forms for older Pokemon, such as giving Gigantamax Pikachu a retro “fat Pikachu” look. Many fans have taken a liking to Gigantamax Meowth due to its resemblance of the age-old “longcat” internet meme from the early-to-mid 2000’s.

Although this comically long Meowth plush was previously revealed by the Pokemon Center for purchase in Japan, this looks to be the plush’s first venture overseas. Recently, the official website even revealed an interestingly-segmented Pikachu plush, which led many fans to make some less-than-desirable comparisons to a certain horror movie. It seems that for whatever reason, the franchise is dead set on releasing as many lengthy Pokemon plush as possible.

As 2021 continues, it’s likely that fans will see even more new Pokemon merch, given the franchise’s monumental 25th anniversary this month. And with Pokemon Day taking place on February 27, it is very likely that fans will see some more Pokemon news later this month.
