It looks like Microsoft has a new, unannounced Halo project in the works, and it’s currently hiring developers for the mystery title.
As per a new job listing from Microsoft (via GamesRadar), it looks like there will soon be a new entry in the long-running Halo franchise. The job ad lists a new producer role in Redmond, Washington – the city in which Halo caretaker developer 343 Industries is based.
“343 Industries is looking for a producer to help develop a new project in the Halo universe,” the job description notes, suggesting this is a wholly new, unannounced project, and not auxiliary work on, say, Halo Infinite.
The job position also hints that this will be a new role; after all, you wouldn’t typically be hiring a producer as late in development as Halo Infinite is (given that all launch day sandbox content is complete in the Xbox shooter).
Whether this will be a continuation of the strategy game series Halo Wars, a spin-off in the vein of Halo: ODST, or something else entirely remains to be seen.
The Halo world is rich with lore and packed with history, so the team at 343i and Microsoft have rich pickings when it comes to exploring the universe that birthed Master Chief, Cortana, and the Covenant.
Halo Infinite is expected to launch later this year, and its multiplayerwill be free-to-play on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X. We’ve also recently heard that 343 Industries reckons we’ll soon have “a new place to play” Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
