7 You, Me and Dupree (2006) – 20%

You, Me and Dupree is another of the Russo brother’s comedies. The story revolves around the newlywed couple, Carl and Molly Peterson, and their decision to allow Carl’s longtime friend, Dupree, to stay with them during a rough patch in his life. Things are fine at the start, but the couple soon learns that Dupree is not the greatest of houseguests.

Reviews for You, Me and Dupree ranged from mixed to negative. Most audiences seemed to see the film as being uninspired or derivative of better comedy films that came before it.

6 Welcome to Collinwood (2002) – 55%

A crime-themed comedy, Welcome to Collinwood is about a man who, while in prison, learns about the ultimate heist plans from a fellow inmate. He wants to perform this heist, but to do so he needs to find someone to replace him in prison. He contacts his girlfriend, who is on the outside, to find someone to take the job. To find this person, she enlists the help of other, bumbling characters, which results in a lot of unexpected antics.

This film had a mildly positive yet mostly mixed reception with audiences and critics. Many cited the film’s comedy as being sporadic, with no truly substantial material to be found.

5 Extraction (2020) – 67%

Following their success with a string of Marvel films, the Russo brothers produced a military and spy-type film named Extraction. The film was about a mercenary for hire who is tasked by an international crime lord with finding and rescuing the crime lord’s kidnapped son. The story was based on a graphic novel called Ciudad, which the Russo brothers also helped to write.

Opinions about Extraction were, for the most part, mixed. People enjoyed and even praised the film’s action sequences, stunts, and performers, including popular actors such as Chris Hemsworth, who followed the brothers from their Marvel projects. The main criticism, however, was that many viewers saw the violence featured in the film as being over-the-top and distracting.

4 Avengers: Infinity War (2018) – 85%

Thanks to the success that the Captain America films experienced with audiences, Disney and Marvel chose to have the Russo brothers direct the next two Avengers films, the first one being Avengers: Infinity WarInfinity War sees all of the evil Titan Thanos’ plans come to fruition as he gathers all of the Infinity Stones. The Avengers must discover what their enemy plans to do with the stones, and then stop him at all costs.

Infinity War achieved even greater praise and notoriety than the brother’s previous two installments in the MCU. Fans and critics loved the story, acting, and action sequences, and they especially favored Thanos’ incredible development and portrayal of the film.

3 Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) – 90%

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was the Russo brother’s first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The second of the films to focus on the heroic Captain America, The Winter Soldier follows the captain’s mission to both uncover a secret plot against the United States government and to rescue his friend Bucky, who he had long thought dead.

The Winter Soldier received high praise in its reviews. The intricate plot, gripping fight scenes, and superb acting all delivered an experience that audiences loved. Fans also loved the spy and military themes weaved throughout the story.

2 Captain America: Civil War (2016) – 90%

Following the success of The Winter Soldier, the Russos returned two years later to release that movie’s sequel, Captain America: Civil War. After suffering heavy civilian casualties during one of their missions, the Avengers are pressured by the world governments to submit to regulations. At the same time,  Bucky is framed for the death of the king of Wakanda. Captain America takes matters into his own hands to prove his friend’s innocence while also finding himself at odds with Iron Man, who wants to both agree to the governments’ demands and capture Bucky.

Civil War followed in the same pattern as The Winter Soldier with its story and action elements, earning the film nearly the same praise. Fans and critics also loved the chance to watch the heroes fight amongst themselves, though some did note that the main fight scene felt somewhat underwhelming.

1 Avengers: Endgame (2019) – 94%

Currently, their last contribution to the MCU, Avengers: Endgame completes the story that Marvel and Disney have been weaving together for over 10 years and through more than 20 films. In the devastating wake of Thanos’ victory, the universe has begun to rebuild itself. Life has been shattered for most people, but the Avengers develop a plan that can give them a slim chance to undo all that Thanos had done.

Endgame received even more praise than its predecessor, Infinity War. As a continuation of Infinity War‘s story, Endgame featured character arcs, action, and performances that were similar to what drew audiences to the previous film.
