With the game set to discuss its next batch of content via a new War Table stream debuting on February 16, Marvel’s Avengers is working hard to come back from its disappointing reception and player numbers following its release last September. The broadcast is said to be focusing on the upcoming Hawkeye DLC, which will see the revered archer go head to head with Maestro: an evil, alternate universe variation of The Hulk.
Before that, however, it seems Marvel’s Avengers has received a significant new patch that focuses on fixing some of the game’s biggest issues and upping the resource cap currently enforced on players. In terms of the latter, players will now be able to store 99 DNA keys, 999 polychorons and upgrade modules, and 99,999 fragments and units.
The resource cap has been an issue for players ever since the game’s release, so it makes sense to up it going forward. As for the general bug fixes, it seems Square Enix has worked on a variety of different issues across the board. In terms of the game’s missions, the team has made Kate Bishop‘s HARM room activity replayable, allowing players to hop back in after completing it. The More Than Inhuman mission also doesn’t disappear from the War Table at random anymore and jumping from the Taking AIM activity to the Avengers Reassemble main mission chain no longer results in an issue where the next campaign interaction point doesn’t work.
There are several changes to Marvel’s Avengers’ base story content as well, with the team patching out a variety of common and rare issues. On the multiplayer side, Square Enix fixed a bug where players appeared invisible to strike team members and another where the message “Unable to Join Strike Team” would show even after joining a game. AS for combat, Kate Bishop’s explosive arrow indicator now displays correctly, while the team has patched out an issue where adaptoids could grab players as they were dodging and another where Bishop could effectively fly when jumping after a mid-air blink-dash.
Other aspects of the patch fix Iron Man’s low battery prompt not displaying correctly, enemies spawning out of bounds, and made it so Ms. Marvel’s iconic outfit remains unlocked after the Magnificent Ms. Marvel mission chain. Overall, it seems like a significant update that will provide Marvel’s Avengers players with a smoother experience. It will no doubt be a good basis to build from when the upcoming Hawkeye DLC launches, with the character looking to be the next major slice of content coming to the game.
Marvel’s Avengers is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions currently in development.
