Supposed Silent Hill Teased Was Removed by Anonymous Third Party

If there was ever a video game franchise that deserved to make a comeback, Silent Hill is a franchise that many in the gaming community would consider a sound answer. Widely regarded as one of the most influential and terrifying survival horror series ever produced, Silent Hill has had an incredibly long dry spell that many fans have grown restless over. Although, a video clip that assumedly teases the release of a new Silent Hill title was taken down, but not by Konami.

A recent interview with Silent Hill’s composer, Akira Yamaoka, that was posted by Al Hub was taken down. Al Hub had been requested to remove the clip and the company obliged. However, according to Al Hub, the corporation that requested that the video be taken down was not Konami, as many in the gaming community justifiably assumed, given Konami’s secrecy with the game.

Al Hub recently released a statement explaining how the news outlet had been requested to take the interview with Yamaoka down. The news outlet later Tweeted out saying that Konami was not responsible for the video’s removal and that it instead came from an unknown third-party. Leaving many in the community to wonder which company may have requested the clip’s removal.

If not Konami, then the next logical guess would be Sony, but without any real evidence to reinforce the claim, it is ultimately speculation at this point. In fairness, Yamaoka has collaborated on numerous other projects outside of Silent Hill, such as The Medium and Contra. Thus, it’s possible that what he said in the interview could be in reference to some other project.

Though, Yamaoka was famously at the heart of every one of Silent Hill’s soundtracks. He even worked on the soundtrack to the Silent Hill expansion of Dead by Daylight, so it’s safe to say that if there is a new Silent Hill in development, then he will be involved in some capacity. Furthermore, in the interview, Yamaoka did say the game that would presumably be announced this summer is one that fans have been wanting for a while now.

In any case, this whole situation is very peculiar. It could just come down to the fact that fans are looking for any reason they can to assume that a new Silent Hill game is in development, but right now there just isn’t enough to support that theory. Although, it is interesting that Konami was not the one to remove the clip. This unknown third-party could have something to do with a new Silent Hill. It’s important to consider also the success that Resident Evil has been having since the release of Resident Evil 7. If done right, a new game could easily bring Silent Hill back to life.
