Tales from the Borderlands is Making A Comeback | Game Rant

Tales from the Borderlands is quite different from the other Borderlands games, boasting Telltale’s signature focus on player choice and focused storytelling instead of the looter shooter gameplay the franchise is known for. With this unique style helping to make Tales from the Borderlands something of a cult classic, fans should be happy to learn that it is making a return.

While Tales from the Borderlands’ sales were a far cry from what is usually seen from a Borderlands game, Telltale put plenty of heart into the project, expanding the Borderlands universe in a meaningful way. Featuring two protagonists, a con artist and aspiring Vault Hunter named Fiona and a Hyperion businessman named Rhys, Telltale spun a memorable tale with its Borderlands game. While the game was removed from online stores around the time of Telltale’s shutdown, it is finally making a welcome return.

A post on the official Borderlands Twitter account reveals that the game will be making a return to digital storefronts next Wednesday, February 17. Included in the post is a hilarious interaction from the game that shows Rhys staring at Fiona’s sister Sasha before Fiona breaks up the interaction — with the beloved mechanic Scooter making his presence known as well. With the iconic villain Handsome Jack having his story come to a proper end in Takes from the Borderlands, it is an important chapter in the series’ overall narrative.

While fans of the game should be excited to relive the story that they played through years ago, newcomers have something to gain from experiencing it, too. Considering that Rhys has a large Borderlands 3 role along with his pal Vaughn, playing through Tales from the Borderlands can be worthwhile for fans of the latest game in the series. With fan favorites like Zer0 showing up too, there is plenty that ties the spinoff to the main releases, and original characters like Gortys and Loader Bot prove to be strong additions to the franchise’s universe.

With these new versions of Tales from the Borderlands rumored for months, it is nice to see that the game is making a comeback. While it is unclear if this is just a simple re-release or a hint at Tales from the Borderlands Season 2, fans should be happy to see the original game making a return. While Telltale’s style of quick-time events and dialogue choices is not for everyone, Tales from the Borderlands is a clear example of those mechanics working well, making it deserving of this re-release.

For fans of Rhys and Fiona’s adventure, YouTube videos and Borderlands 3 Easter eggs will not have to be the only way to relive it for much longer. Starting next week, Tales from the Borderlands fans can find the game on digital store fronts once again — though the specific stores have not been specified.

Tales from the Borderlands returns to unspecified storefronts and platforms on February 17.
