MLB The Show 21 Lets Players Use Their Created Ballplayer Outside of Road to the Show

MLB The Show 21 is giving fans a look at different game modes and new features coming to the Show franchise a few months before release. MLB The Show 21 is scheduled to release in April, and for the first time ever, will be releasing on Xbox consoles. In a series of entertaining trailers, puppets of cover athlete Fernando Tatis Jr. and The Show mascot, Coach, have highlighted features in MLB The Show 21, which may help Xbox players get into the swing of the game.

In the latest MLB The Show 21 trailer featuring puppet Tatis and Coach, the Road to the Show game mode is highlighted along with a new feature for created players. Normally in The Show, created players are locked into Road to the Show mode with players customizing their player’s look, and working their way up to the big leagues.

According to the newest trailer, in The Show 21, created players can be used outside of Road to the Show mode and will be playable in the game mode “Diamond Dynasty,” which is The Show‘s version of Ultimate Team. It is also stated that the created player will earn experience outside of Road to the Show, however, the trailer does not specify what other game modes the created player can be used in besides Diamond Dynasty.

Along with the freedom to use created players outside of Road to the Show, MLB The Show 21 will also feature created-player loadouts, which will allow players to earn and customize loadouts so the created player can play any position. Some of the loadouts shown in the trailer include Control, Break, and Velocity, which will affect pitching stats, and Fielding, Speed, Contact, Power, and Pure Power, which will affect athletics and batting stats.

It is also worth noting that the loadouts are organized by rarity, with loadouts appearing in copper, silver and gold tiers, meaning players will have to work their way up, or may have to encounter loot boxes of some sort.

MLB The Show 21 will also feature cross-play and cross-progression, meaning players can play their created player across multiple consoles, and can play with friends on any of the consoles supported. According to one of the trailers, The Show 21 will also have three different styles of gameplay, giving players more options on how competition plays out. Hopefully more entertaining trailers featuring Fernando Tatis Jr. are released to reveal more about upcoming features for The Show 21.

MLB The Show 21 will release April 20 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
