With video games expanding into a bigger industry each and every year, it can be difficult to know which titles to invest time into, with the library of experiences on each major platform expanding exponentially as the months press on. It seems Nintendo is looking to help fix that exact issue with the introduction of its newest program, which allows players to have consultation meetings with representatives of the company to discuss which Switch game they should play next.
The concierge program is available now, allowing players to book a one-on-one, 30-minute virtual consultation to discuss a variety of topics pertaining to their Nintendo Switch and how best to use it. Alongside the aforementioned video game recommendation service, other topics include customizing the user interface, safety on the console, and a comprehensive guide to getting started for new players.
The “What to Play Next” service has managed to draw the most attention online, however, with Nintendo claiming it decides which games to recommend depending on “who is playing, play styles, favorite games, system and accessories owned.” The meetings are entirely free and can only be attended by Switch owners from the US that are over 18 years old, while participation is allegedly limited to one session per person.
As for how players set up a consultation, they have to head to the Nintendo website, pick from the list of 6 topics, choose a time that best suits them, confirm the appointment via email, and then connect when their slot is available. According to the site, the representative will also be able to answer questions outside of those pertaining to whichever topic has been selected. Overall, it seems to be a service for those who’ve just picked up a Nintendo Switch and are looking for some guidance while they learn the ins and outs of their console.
There’s definitely an audience for Nintendo’s concierge program considering the Switch is booming right now, recently eclipsing the sales of the Nintendo 3DS. It’s sure to have a number of new players looking for some advice regarding what to play on the console and where to start when jumping into the newest generation of Nintendo entertainment. Its safety seminars will also come in handy, with last year leaving a number of the platform’s online accounts compromised due to a security breach. It’s important for users to know how to protect their data, and Nintendo’s new protection and privacy-focused consultations seem like an informative way to spread that message.
