Even though Persona has been a successful series throughout its lifespan, Atlus really seems to have struck gold with Persona 5. Originally releasing back in 2016, the game was nominated for multiple awards at that year’s The Game Awards, and has since gone on to release the rhythm game spinoff Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, a revised version of the original game in Persona 5 Royal, and now a direct sequel to the original game with a twist in Persona 5 Strikers.
Although the game released nearly a year ago in Japan, it is headed to the west in less than two weeks, complete with new characters, mechanics, a shift to hack-and-slash gameplay, and Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force at the helm. With the western release of Persona 5 Strikers rapidly approaching, Atlus has announced a special launch celebration livestream for the game on Twitch.
The Persona 5 Strikers Launch Celebration will take place on February 18, just a few days before the game’s official release. In an announcement made over on Twitter, Atlus West mentioned that the livestreamed celebration will include a panel discussion featuring Persona 5 Strikers‘ English voice cast, as well as some special messages from the game’s developers, and more.
On February 18, fans can tune into Atlus West’s official Twitch channel at 9 AM PST to kick things off, where new footage of the upcoming game will be shown as well. Both fans and critics alike have made it clear that they are more than ready to strike back with the notorious Phantom Thieves, with Persona 5 Strikers receiving overwhelmingly positive scores from reviewers earlier this week. Even though the original Persona 5 game released exclusively on the PS3 and PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC owners are excited to steal hearts when the series finally makes its way over to those platforms with this new installment. At the time of this writing, the Persona 5 Strikers‘ PS4 release (its most reviewed version) currently holds an 85% on Metacritic, scoring just slightly higher than the PC and Switch versions of the game.
Fans are also just as excited to hear from the game’s English voice cast, as the characters have become incredibly beloved over the years. Just about a month ago, Cassandra Lee Morris, the English dub voice of Morgana, along with Erika Harlacher, the voice of Ann Takamaki, explained that the English recording process for Persona 5 Strikers took a bit longer than expected due to COVID-19-related difficulties.
Even with just under 2 weeks to go, the game continues release a variety of new information regularly, including the release of a trailer focusing on Persona 5 Strikers‘ story today, keeping fans as excited as ever. And although Persona 6 may be on the horizon, it will be interesting to see where Atlus continues to take Persona 5 in the future.
Persona 5 Strikers releases on February 23 for PC, PS4, and Switch.
