Divinity Original Sin 2: Every Skill Tree, Ranked | Game Rant

There are so many skill trees to choose from in Divinity: Original Sin 2 that it can be hard to figure out where to start. Some trees give players access to healing, a few give access to many status effects, and others are great for dishing out a ton of damage.

Not only do people need to choose their skill trees, but the skills of their companions as well. That is why players should know which skill trees they might want. Some major research might be in order if players want to avoid starting over.

10 Polymorph

The Polymorph skill tree is one of the best in the game to use for specific skills, but it’s not extremely great by itself. Skills like Tentacle Lash, Bull Horns, and Chameleon Cloak are great to use in battle. They can help turn the tide and set status effects on enemies often. Spread Your Wings can help players maneuver around the battlefield with ease.

Other skills, however, require more specific situations and won’t be used often enough for players to employ them effectively. This ultimately leads to people only taking a couple of skills from this tree.

9 Necromancy

The Necromancy skill tree falls into the same category as the Polymorph skill tree. It has some great skills that can help change the outcome of a battle, but many of them rely on other skill trees or certain situations to be useful. These skills include Raise Bone Widow, Last Rites, Black Shroud, and Infect.

Some notable skills that players should always consider for their builds are Bone Cage, Death Wish, and Silencing Stare. These options can be combined with other skill trees to cause some serious harm.

8 Pyrokinetic

There is no doubt that the Pyrokinetic skill tree is powerful. When used correctly, enemies will catch fire and burn away into ash. Players can create an entire build focused around Pyrokinetics and deal damage galore, but the main problem lies with the area of effect and how often this skill tree’s attacks can harm allies.

Fire skills have a bit of an explosive radius. Many skills show an area of effect circle, but in the case of fire, it doesn’t show the actual area of effect. Many of the Pyrokinetic skills will go beyond the area of effect and harm allies or catch massive zones of oil on fire. Players using this skill tree need to take extra precautions.

7 Aerothurge

Aerothurge skills are all based around lightning and moving the air around the player to affect enemies and allies. This skill tree focuses on buffs and debuffs that are great for battle. The skill Uncanny Evasion is grabbed for many builds because of how great it is in battle.

The downside to this skill tree falls to situational skills and those that are harmful to allies. Skills like Pressure Spike, Closed Circuit, and Tornado all rely on specific situations. Closed Circuit leaves a cursed smoke cloud that can harm allies.

6 Geomancer

Throwing rocks at enemies is fun even on the worst days, especially when those rocks are filled with oil. The Geomancer skill tree gives players access to useful abilities that can replenish their armor, slow enemies, and even block themselves from damage.

The Living Wall skill allows a player to block enemies and poison them while skills like Oily Carapace and Fortify give the player the ability to replenish their physical armor. Geomancer skills can be used in a lot of places with the only downside being accidentally damaging allies.

5 Hydrosophist

The Hydrosohpist skill tree gets put above others because of the many healing skills it has. This tree gives players access to skills like Healing Ritual, Restoration, and Healing Tears that allows them to heal themselves and allies.

Skills like Amour of Frost, Soothing Cold, and Arcane Stitch allow a player to restore magic armor and remove status effects. On top of these skills, players using this tree get access to plenty of attacks that damage enemies and leave status effects like frozen and chilled.

4 Scoundrel

Scoundrel skills are great for getting into the fray of battle to deal great amounts of damage. Players using this skill tree get access to multiple status effects that they can hurt enemies with that only get better when using the Torturer perk. Many of the skills get bonuses for getting a backstab.

The damage that players using the Scoundrel skill tree can cause is more than most of the skill trees. However, with so much damage potential comes the drawback of needing backup. Scoundrel users typically need companions to support them if they get caught in a sticky situation.

3 Summoning

Monsters are fun to play with, especially when they are a pet that must do whatever they are told. The Summoning tree is versatile and gives players access to many skills that are useful in battle. Conjure Incarnate is the base skill that summoners get access to. This skill gives the player a little incarnate that can attack enemies for them.

Once there are at least 10 points in the tree, the incarnate becomes huge and deals more damage. This incarnate gets different abilities depending on what type of status effect area it is summoned on. Summon Totem is also useful and changes elements depending on where it is summoned. Summoners can also have multiple totems at once.

2 Huntsman

The Huntsman skill tree focuses on more physical attacks than elemental ones. Huntsman skill tree users can use elemental arrowheads for different situations, making the skill tree very versatile. This tree is more rogue-like and allows a player to use skills like Tactical Retreat to escape combat easily.

Reactive Shot allows the player to get attacks of opportunity in an area without needing the Opportunist perk. Almost all of the abilities are affected by the Far Out Man perk which gives the player even more range than they have to start.

1 Warfare

The Warfare skill tree handles itself no matter what is being thrown at it. Players using this tree get access to skills that can hit multiple enemies at once. Whirlwind, Battering Ram, and Battle Stomp are all great for handling groups of enemies that stick together.

The Warfare skill tree also gives access to a few movement increasing abilities like Phoenix Dive and Blitz Attack. Players using Warfare can also use abilities to increase their physical armor and buff to take on stronger enemies with ease.
