Fortnite: How to Change Name | Game Rant

Fortnite, Epic Games’ incredibly successful battle royale, allows players to customize everything. The skin they wear during matches, their backbling and emotes, and even their loading screens and menu music. In a game that is all about personality, it is also possible to change players’ names, allowing fans to put together an outfit with a theme and then lean into it with their display name.

There are some important pieces of information players should be aware of before they change their display name. The Epic Games display name is the name that appears on all of Epic’s services. This includes all titles played through Epic Games on PC/Mac, Switch, or mobile. It is also the name that appears on the Epic Games Store Launcher, AnswerHub, and the official forums. For console players, changing their display name will not affect their PSN or Xbox names. Players can only change their name once every two weeks, so they will need to make sure the new name is something they will be happy with for at least that long.

Unlike their outfits, players cannot change their Fortnite display name in the game and need to visit the Epic Games website instead.

  • Go to the Epic Games website.
  • Log in to the Epic Games account attached to the Fornite account that needs to be changed using the Account button in the top right.
  • The Settings page will open by default on the General tab.
  • Under Account Info, the tab’s first section, click on the blue pencil icon beside the Display Name box.
  • A new popup will appear containing a New Display Name box, a Confirm Display Name box, and a checkbox for the terms and conditions.
  • Enter the desired display name in both boxes, tick the box, then hit the blue Confirm button.
  • Hit the blue Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

With their display name changed, players can then jump back into matches to finish challenges, prepare for any of the rumored upcoming crossovers, and try to get those all-important wins. With Chapter 2 Season 6 looming on the horizon, players are running out of time to finish up their Battle Pass and get all the skins and items on offer. The current season is expected to end on March 16, giving players just four more weeks to finish everything they need to do before the next set of major changes arrive in Fortnite.

One of the main attractions this season is the special skins styles that are available from the Battle Pass after Level 100. These Sapphire, Topaz, and Zero Point skins will only be earned by the truly committed, so players will need to make sure that they are dedicated if they want them.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
