Animal Crossing: New Horizons Festivale Event is Live | Game Rant

Ever since the game released last March, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been party to a number of significant updates, adding everything from planting bushes to scuba-diving. These updates have also brought with them several exciting seasonal events, including Easter’s Bunny Day celebration and Christmas Eve’s Toy Day activities.

Today, a tried and tested staple of the Animal Crossing calendar is taking place, with players able to join their villagers in commemorating the annual Festivale event. The Mardis-Gras-inspired celebration is far from a new sight for seasoned Animal Crossing aficionados, cropping up in the vast majority of the franchise’s previous iterations. This time, however, it will be coming with new activities for the player to embark upon before the event ends tonight.

For one, Pave the Peacock will be venturing to players’ islands, seemingly sending the inhabitants on a mission. They’ll have to catch as many feathers as they possibly can before bringing them back to Pave, who, in return, will offer them a Festivale dance. There will also be a number of fun outfits to grab from the Able Sisters’ shop, with Nintendo’s recent “Exploring February” video showcasing sequined dresses, extravagant suits, and more Festivale outfits to help celebrate the seasonal festivities. The celebration will come to a close when the day ends on the player’s island, so those wanting to ensure they get the most out of Festivale should hop onto the game at some point today.

Outside of Festivale, it seems Animal Crossing will continue to offer free content going into March, with the January update video that announced the plans for Festivale also hinting that the Super Mario crossover content is due soon. That update will supposedly bring a number of Mario items to players’ islands, although it’s still unclear exactly what will be included. Knowing Animal Crossing, it’s likely worth expecting some fun new clothing sets as well as plenty of decorative furniture celebrating Nintendo’s iconic mustachioed mascot.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to be an absolute smash hit with Nintendo fans around the world, dominating sales charts almost a year since it first released. The game has done a lot in that time, cultivating player’s imaginations and generating a wholesome, collaborative playerbase that overtook social media at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. From Rogue One writer Gary Whitta starting a talk show in the game to Reddit user Tybat11 creating a free weed removal service for other players, the game has well and truly become a goldmine for fun community content, and it’ll be interesting to see where it goes from here.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now on Nintendo Switch.
