Dead by Daylight Updating In-Game HUD Again | Game Rant

As Dead by Daylight players will no doubt be aware, Behaviour Interactive recently made the decision to switch up the asymmetric multiplayer horror’s HUD, adding what it perceived to be a new, cleaner design for the game. Since its release, the changes have largely been controversial with Dead by Daylight‘s playerbase, seemingly resulting in the recent announcement that the HUD will be revised once again during its next update.

The reveal was made via the game’s Twitter account, claiming that, in accordance with player feedback, there would be a number of major new changes to the HUD in the upcoming 4.5.1 update. However, Behaviour Interactive was quick to preface that it’s still actively working on the UI design, claiming more changes will be implemented in the 4.5.2 patch slated to appear in the near future.

As for what’s changed now, the Twitter account highlights that the survivor statuses and the hook counter have been lowered, objects have transitioned from the top of the screen to the bottom, and object text has been removed. Interestingly, skill checks will also have their own scaling options now, meaning players will be able to customize their look to accommodate what works best for them. With the HUD still allegedly being a big focus for Behaviour Interactive, the team also appears very open to fan feedback, with its social media representative promising several commenters that their remaining complaints will be forward to the dev team.

These include the look of the character portraits, having portraits underneath the hooked icon, the size of the bleed-out meter, and the ability to customize the general UI size. A number of none-HUD related concerns even got answered, with the Twitter account acknowledging the studio is working on fixing a frustrating bug that hinders ranking up and that it’s investigating reports of severely buggy hitboxes. It seems Dead by Daylight’s creators are looking to listen to the community in an effort to integrate what they want to see changed in the game’s future patches.

In other Dead by Daylight related news, the game recently implemented fresh skins for its Stranger Things crossover characters, while it also debuted a new Tomb of the Archives. Next up is a graphical upgrade and a dedicated colorblind mode, which looks to offer the accessibility option in the wake of controversial comments from one of the game’s developers. The upcoming feature will offer the ability to alter the look of several of the game’s main UI features, offering a variety of options that help accommodate several different forms of colorblindness.

Dead by Daylight is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
