Destiny 2: How to Get Retrofuturist | Game Rant

Destiny 2: Beyond Light’s Season of the Chosen has brought back a classic shotgun for Guardians everywhere to enjoy. The Shaxx-approved, Crucible-themed Legendary Shotgun has been added back to the game’s loot pools, but with some changes including a new method of obtaining it. Thanks to the weapon sunsetting system that places a Power cap on weapons earned from previous seasons, the Retrofuturist returns with a new Power cap and new perks. Players who have an older Retrofuturist in their Vault will need to farm it again as those versions won’t have their Power cap increased.

The Retrofuturist falls into the Lightweight Frame class, making it a standout in PvP activities as it increases movement speed when it is equipped and has superb handling. The weapon also has a solid combination of 65 Impact and 46 Range, making it highly competitive with some of Destiny 2’s more prominent shotgun options for Crucible and Trials of Osiris. A deep pool of perks means the weapon can roll with Rifled Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Quickdraw, Snapshot Sights, and a Range Masterwork providing players with a lethal combination when taking on their fellow Guardians.

To get the Retrofuturist, players will need to earn Umbral Engrams and focus them in the Prismatic Recaster. Umbral Engrams can be earned from just about any activity in the game, although the new Battlegrounds are proving to be the best way to get them, as they can be obtained from the Tribute Chests that spawn at the end of the activity. Players can then bring the Umbral Engram to the Primastic Recaster and focus it into a Chosen Arms Engram to give the best chance of getting the Retrofuturist.

Players looking for a weapon to give them an edge in Destiny 2’s PvE activities will need to look for a different set of perks. Rifled Barrel will provide extra range, while Assault Mag will increase stability and rate of fire. Dual Loader will allow players to reload two shells at a time, and Trench Barrel will round out the weapon nicely by boosting damage, handling, and reload speed after a melee kill.

The Retrofuturist is just one of the weapons that players may be interested in hunting down during Season of the Chosen. Other weapons, such as the Frozen Orbit Sniper Rifle, will give players a great option for long-range engagements but can only be found in Destiny 2’s Crucible mode. Players that are lacking hard-hitting close quarters combat options will find the Retrofuturist to be highly competitive in gunfights against other Guardians, which will make it easier to get Crucible exclusive weapons.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
