Zack Snyder Says Warner Bros. Has ‘No Interest’ In Justice League 2

After watching Zack Snyder’s Justice League, fans will not get a chance to view a sequel, Snyder himself has confirmed. In an hour-long interview with I Minutemen, the filmmaker stated that Warner Bros. has “no interest or appetite” in his Justice League 2, squashing any chances or rumors of the story continuing in Snyder’s version of the DC Extended Universe.

It is already known that Warner Bros. has invested a large sum of money, more than $70 million, to let Snyder complete his version of Justice League. The movie required several re-shoots, extensive post-production, and the addition of scenes to be completed the way Snyder aimed for his original version of the film to look like. However, DC Films president Walter Hamada, during an interview in December, also confirmed that Snyder is not part of the franchise’s future.

When Snyder first came on board, he had a five-movie plan for the DCEU. Fans already got to see Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Dealing with a personal tragedy, Snyder had to walk away from the project during the production of Justice League, leaving his trajectory of events incomplete. With two more planned movies, fans would have gotten to see two Justice League sequels had things gone as planned. Justice League 2 was originally intended to be released just a year after the first installment hit theaters.

When Snyder left, he didn’t expect there to ever be a possibility of DC fans getting to see his version of Justice League either. Before the movie was confirmed, Snyder believed that many years down the line, he would provide the original footage that he had shot to anyone potentially making a documentary on the story behind Justice League. While the possibility of a sequel seems to have come to an end, after years of campaigning, the Snyder Cut has in fact come to fruition

Four years after Snyder had to walk away from the project, Warner Bros. gave the green light on his version of the film. Fans who were adamant to see the Snyder Cut spent years asking the producers to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. And that’s not all. In December, when studio executives referred to the upcoming four-hour film as a franchise dead end, another fan campaign started to trend, urging Warner Bros. to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse and introduce Snyder’s version of Justice League as a part of the DCEU canon. Justice League stars Ray Fisher and Ray Porter also joined in, offering their support on Twitter.

While the campaigning continues, it remains to be seen if it’ll have an impact on the media conglomerate’s decision to end Snyder’s version of the story with the release of Justice League. Even though he is aware that this might be it, Snyder has stated in past interviews that he is just glad that he got to complete the film the way he initially planned to – something he thought he would never get a chance to do.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be available on HBO Max starting March 18, 2021.
