Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Adding Crossbow, Mini-Gun, and More New Weapons

The next season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is bringing a series of new weapons and content. Activision has released a trailer showcasing all the updates coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2.

The developers have brought a host of changes to the latest entry of the classic multiplayer series. From an addition of a map in the Zombies mode to recently releasing League Play, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is still growing. Now, it looks like Activision is keeping the live service aspects going by revealing Season 2 and its rewards.

The core of the trailer gives fans a snapshot of some of the main weapons that will be launching soon. Players familiar with Call of Duty history will instantly recognize the Mini-Gun making a comeback. Those looking for something more straightforward will also be able to equip a Crossbow as a secondary weapon. Galil, a weapon from Black Ops, appears in the trailer as well as a new SMG, and all of this content will be arriving in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on February 25.

Some of the upcoming teases also involve a Battle Pass, Warzone updates, and more content for multiplayer. One of the other main features coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a new Operator. From the trailer, the mysterious figure seems to be a ruthless killer roaming the jungles of Laos. While there is not much information on the character, it is likely that players will be able to access this Operator from the Season 2 Battle Pass.

Treyarch has gone all in with the updates for the title in recent weeks. As a live service game, it is important that the developers continue to add meaningful content, and a new Operator with a unique collection of weapons should lead to some alternative strategies when competing. These nods to previous Call of Duty games will likely excite fans who have been with the series over the years, and with players finishing up placement matches in League Play for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the extra content will be coming just in time.

If most of this content is tied to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Battle Pass, plenty of casual fans may be left in the dust. Activision utilizes all kinds of methods to get players to continue paying after buying the game, from the stereotypical Battle Pass to in-game advertisements, so players may be less than excited for more in Season 2. That said, those hoping for a shake up to the game should get pumped for the new season.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
