Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2 Could Be Coming Soon

Of the many highly anticipated titles released last year, Doom Eternal made a tremendous impact on the gaming community when it first launched. Following the massive success of DoomDoom Eternal expanded on most of the things its predecessor did well, in ways that surprised many players in big ways. Now more than ever, players from all around the world want to know what’s next for Doom Eternal.

While Doom was one of the biggest shooters of 2016, in a lot of ways, it was merely testing the waters in terms of what the franchise was capable of in the modern age. With the release of Doom Eternal, most of everything that players loved from the first game was cranked up to eleven, plus it was one of the first major DLCs campaigns in the series.

The Ancient Gods DLC in Doom Eternal was released back in October of last year and was met favorably by fans of the game. Now, according to the Australian Classification Board, the second part of The Ancient Gods DLC has received a rating. Unsurprisingly, it’s rated R18+, the equivalent of an M rating in America, but the fact that it’s now rated could indicate that the second installment is coming soon.

Right now, it’s impossible to tell how soon the second installment will release. The first part of The Ancient Gods DLC launched nearly four months ago, followed swiftly by the launch of the Nintendo Switch port for Doom Eternal. Not to mention that neither Bethesda nor id Software have officially revealed a second part, although the studios did confirm that it was in development.

Then again, the fact that Australia has officially rated the DLC does seem to indicate that the campaign is likely close to completion, but it’s probably best for fans to simply wait for official word from Bethesda. Hopefully, the wait won’t be too much longer for fans eagerly awaiting the chance to experience more Doom Eternal content.

It will be interesting to see what id Software and Bethesda do in the future in terms of Doom. Doom’s original developer id Software has been with the series since its inception, and following the release of Doom and the subsequent release of Doom Eternal, the franchise is just as prominent in the gaming community now as it was back during the release of the first game in 1993. Now, with the arrival of part 2 of The Ancient Gods DLC, now is as good a time as any to be a Doom fan.

Doom Eternal is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
