Marvel Announces ASSEMBLED, A Behind-the-Scenes Look At The MCU

Today, Marvel Studios announced a new behind-the-scenes documentary show about the making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Marvel, ASSEMBLED will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at how their favorite Marvel properties came to life. The series will follow the inner workings of various films and tv shows, revealing exclusive on-set footage and interviews with cast and crew. Episodes will cover upcoming Disney Plus shows such as Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye, as well as Marvel’s next feature film, Black Widow.

New episodes of ASSEMBLED will premiere on Disney Plus shortly after the theatrical and/or streaming release dates for these productions. The first episode will focus on the current, critically acclaimed series WandaVision. According to Marvel, the episode will feature series leads Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and detail how the production’s unique style and concept took form, showing the challenges faced by the cast and crew as they recreate popular sitcoms across different eras.

ASSEMBLED is just the latest in a series of documentary-style ‘making of’ shows to premiere on Disney Plus. Subscribers saw a similar behind-the-scenes show with Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, which took fans through the making of seasons one and two of the hit Star Wars bounty hunter show. Viewers were given a behind-the-scenes look through round table interviews with the cast and creative teams behind each episode, as well as on-set footage showing how they were made.

There was also the anthology documentary series Marvel 616, which explored unique intersections found within Marvel’s rich history, such as the relationship between comics and toys, cosplay culture, and the ‘Marvel Method’ of creating a comic book. More recently, there was the one-hour documentary special Behind the Mask, which explored superhero identities and the power they have.

The first episode of ASSEMBLED will be available to stream on Disney Plus on the first Friday following the conclusion of WandaVision and one week before the premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Perhaps the debut of the docuseries will be able to quench Marvel fans’ thirst for content in between the airing of both Marvel shows.

Assembled: The Making of WandaVision will premiere on Disney Plus on March 12th, 2021.
