Pokemon GO Confirms March 2021 Community Day Pokemon | Game Rant

The latest community day update has been announced for Niantic’s mobile game, Pokemon GO, weeks away from March itself. Community Days in Pokemon GO are special days, predetermined each month that select one Pokemon, significantly increasing its spawn and shiny rate for a few hours. The Pokemon that are chosen come with a bonus incentive such as a hidden exclusive move during the event window.

Historically, the Pokemon chosen for each month is usually determined by Niantic themselves. On occasion, there have been special community days that allowed players to vote on the Pokemon they wish to encounter. For this community day, however, Niantic has taken the liberty to select the Pokemon: Fletchling, the tiny robin Pokemon. This community day is a special one for fans of the Kalos region, as it marks the first community day to feature a Pokemon from Generation 6.

The Flying-type Pokemon stands out in Pokemon GO as being the first shiny Kalos Pokemon that players will have the chance to obtain, following the Kalos update that was added to Pokemon GO in December 2020. Trainers who evolve their Fletchling into Talonflame within the time frame of the event will gain access to the Fire-type move incinerate. As Fletchling will be the first shiny Kalos Pokemon and its first community day headliner, it is only fitting due to its history.

Fletchling made its debut in Pokemon X and Y as the Kalos representative of the staple bird Pokemon. Dating as far back as Generation 1 with the Pidgey evolution line, bird Pokemon have always been a mainstay with the inclusion of every new region. As a Kalos native, Fletchling continues the bird Pokemon tradition by evolving into the powerful Fire/Flying-type falcon, Talonflame.

While Talonflame has been known for its deadly Gale Wings and Brave Bird combo during Pokemon X and Y’s rise, it is currently undetermined whether Talonflame can bring the heat for competitive Pokemon GO players. Regardless, those who wish to add a new shiny to their collection have much to look forward to in the upcoming weeks.

Going over four years strong, Pokemon GO continues to enjoy success as one of the most used mobile apps across both Android and iOS devices. There are over eight generations of Pokemon in total, and with Pokemon GO settling in on the sixth generation, it is expected that support for Pokemon GO will continue for a long time. Players wishing for the chance to capture a shiny Fletchling will have to wait a little while longer as Niantic releases further details involving the date and time of March’s community day.

Pokemon GO is available on iOS and Android devices.
