Fans of baseball know that the postseason is a make or break time for teams to realize their chances at competing in the World Series. Some of the most exciting baseball is played during postseason crunch time, and a returning feature for MLB The Show 21 capitalizes off of that thrill. A recent trailer has reintroduced the March To October mode, which allows players to skip through moments of a 162-game season to focus on the good stuff at the end.
MLB The Show 21 is the first game in the previously PlayStation-exclusive franchise that will release for Xbox. Developer Sony San Diego Studio has also announced cross-play and cross progression capabilities so gamers can carry over data from the Xbox One and PS4 to the Xbox Series X and PS5 and vice versa. MLB The Show 21 is slated to release in April of this year, and until then the game has received short update trailers with the current puppet mascots Coach and game cover athlete Fernando Tatis Jr.
The March to October mode will return in MLB The Show 21 and is essentially a shorter Franchise mode focused on the highlights of a typical baseball season. Players will have better user control of their rosters with improvements to the player logic system. The game also includes the option to play fast-track episodes that will allow for quicker development of Minor League prospects. Although this mode is definitely useful for quicker seasons, it isn’t high on the fan wish list for MLB The Show 21 features.
Fans are eager to see an actual gameplay-focused trailer and are hoping for a full expansion franchise feature for MLB The Show 21. Update trailers have generally been light on specifics and with the game’s release date only a few months away, fans are concerned the series will continue to leave out highly requested features.
Gamers already sold on MLB The Show 21 can still pre-order it for extra digital card packs and Stubs, the in-game currency. There’re also three different Collector’s Editions with cover art of Jackie Robinson that have varying extras like double daily login rewards and a Jackie Robinson bat skin.
MLB The Show 21 will release April 20 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
