The Witcher 3: A Complete Walkthrough For Shock Therapy

Shock Therapy is a hilarious quest that is loosely based on a scene from Life of Brian that players can take on in Witcher 3. A druid asks Geralt to help get his friend Egill to start talking again as he’s suddenly gone completely silent. How hard can that really be right?

Players may have discovered that the task is a bit more complicated than they originally planned. Plus, this quest is the only way to get the lorveth Gwent card which is important for those who want to be the best Gwent player they can be. So for those that got frustrated or need a little help, he’s how to get Egill talking once more.

Players will first need to head to Gedyneith to begin this quest. There is a cave nearby, a bit west of the signpost there. Players will be able to spot a druid just outside the cave entrance waving him over. He’ll tell players about how a fellow druid has suddenly lost his voice and that he is concerned something is wrong, then task the Witcher with helping to find a solution.

Once players head over to Egill, who is labeled as the “taciturn druid,” they will find him unsurprisingly uncooperative. If Geralt tries to talk to Egill, the only thing he’ll get in response is a middle finger. Oof! To continue on, players will need to use their Witcher Senses to see what options are available. Here are the three options presented:

  • Destroy Egill’s Fire
  • Hit The Pots
  • Disturb The Hornet’s Nest

Each option has to be selected at the correct time or else they’ll have no effect and the quest will just sit there stagnant.

Each time the player selects the correct option, they’ll receive another meaty middle finger from Egill until he finally snaps. Here’s which option to take depending on what Egill is doing.

  • Egill is laying down on his mats – Hit The Pots
  • Egill is praying on the edge of the rocks – Disturb The Hornet’s Nest
  • Egill is warming himself by the fire – Destroy Egill’s Fire

Once players manage to get him the third time he’ll finally yell at Geralt, only to be incredibly angry that he just broke a vow of silence. Looks like the Witcher got dragged into a bit of a prank! No matter how the player chooses to respond, Egill will simply get angry and storm off to yell at the druid that gave Geralt the quest.

Though druids have gained fame worldwide as outstanding healers, even with all their spells and elixirs they at times prove powerless against diseases. Such was the case with Egill – a druid who had lost his voice. His friend decided that, since traditional methods had failed, it was time to try newer, more innovative approaches. It fell to Geralt to test them.

Thanks to Geralt’s efforts, Egill did indeed speak once more – in order to give Geralt a thorough tongue lashing. it turned out the druid had not lost his voice due to illness, but had sworn a vow of silence for religious reasons. Instead of helping a man to recover, it seemed Geralt had taken part in a rather awful practical joke.

Once Egill is done yelling as his fellow druid, players should head back to speak with him. They’ll receive 75 exp but more importantly, they’ll receive the lorveth Gwent card. Congratulations, this bit of Shock Therapy is finally over. Go hit the Gwent tables with this special new card!
