Borderlands 3: How To Complete The Sell Out Mission | Game Rant

Finding that next piece of legendary loot within Borderlands 3 can be a tad tedious at times. However, locating this legendary pistol on Ambermire is one of the easiest ones to find and is gifted to the player from an unlikely source. That is, if the Vault Hunter is willing to die while streaming it all.

This side quest can only be found in the swampy terrain on Eden-6 and comes with two very different outcomes. Give in to the Calypso Twins temptations and receive a powerful legendary weapon at a price or send their spirits crashing to the ground along with a handful of cameras during the “Sell Out” quest.

3 Travel To Ambermire On Eden-6

This side mission comes with two separate objectives – Destroy Cameras or Use Obvious Death Trap. Completing either of these objectives will award the player with cash along with XP and a unique weapon, as each objective offers the player different rewards. It can be found on the planet, Eden-6, and can be obtained after completing the “Going Rogue” quest. The player will gain access to an area on the planet called Ambermire, and here is where the “Sell Out” notice can be picked up on a nearby notice board, tucked behind a New-U station. Locate the marker on the map or by exploring the area and approach it to activate the start of the mission.

The Calypso Twins, more specifically the Siren co-leader of the Children of the Vault, Tyreen Calypso, will then chime on the Echo Device. She reminisces about live streaming the death of (Spoiler Alert) the Vault Hunter’s blue-haired Siren companion, Maya, earlier in the game. This will lead to Tyreen proposing that the Vault Hunter elect to film themselves entering into the Calypso’s nearby death machine. All, of course, for the amusement of the Children of the Vault watching via nearby cameras in exchange for a shiny new toy to add to their inventory. Travel to the trap where it can be decided to either enter into the trap for the new loot or destroy the five surrounding cameras and denying Tyreen’s entertainment.

2 Use Obvious Death Trap

If the player decides to give in to the promises of a new weapon by entering into the death trap, and thus confirming Tyreen’s declaration that the Vault Theif is, in fact, a “gun sl*t,” leave from the notice board. Turn left and walk along the wooden pathway. Continue straight until the path begins to veer left and head past the vending machine, across the watery area, until reaching the trap. Once there, a Maniac will demonstrate the machine by rushing inside before being splattered. Enter into the death trap between the two corrosive barrels and hit the glowing green switch inside. Doing so will then activate a giant cylinder that crushes the player into several meaty pieces and spawning back at the New-U station nearby and a few dollars lighter.

Once completed, paired with a big stack of XP and cash, the player will receive one of the most powerful pistols in the game. The Hazardous Sellout pistol has no issues cutting through armor and shredding flesh. This unique legendary Maliwan sidearm rapidly fires off three rounds of explosives with each shot, and comes with a massive boost to Splash Damage Radius. It also comes with the option to alternate between both Incendiary and Corrosive elemental rounds, depending on which enemy type the Vault Hunter is up against or how they want to toy with nearby Skags. However, like most things in the Borderlands universe, there is always a catch with this damaging firearm. Included with this powerful weapon comes the voice of Tyreen Calypso herself shooting out various, and more often than not, insulting bullets of her own. All of which are directed at the player or to nearby enemies, alerting them.

1 Destroy The Cameras

Deciding to spare the Vault Hunter’s life, and turn down the siren’s offer by destroying each of the five cameras, will result in missing out on the legendary loot. Players will only receive some cash and the satisfaction of destroying the siren’s hopes of streaming the player transforming into a pool of blood and weapon parts. Each of the five cameras is hung up above the trap and is easy to knock off within a couple of seconds.

  • Two can be found on the wall above the door leading into the trap
  • One is on the pillar above the first two
  • The final two can be found sitting across from each other, to the left and right of the trap

As each camera comes crashing to the ground, the voice of Tyreen Calypso pleading to the player to reconsider their decision will reverberate through the marshes of Eden-6, giving the player a chance to change their mind and still receive the weapon. After each of the five cameras has been destroyed, the dissatisfied siren will gift the player with a cash reward and some harsh name-calling, ending the quest.
