Rarely does a game stand out purely on a brief impression of its visuals, but that’s exactly what Voyage does. Voyage features hand-painted environments as well as cinematically animated movement, giving off an impression of a Ghibli animated film. And Voyage is all the more impressive as it’s being made by a team of two partnered with a composer. The team, which goes by the name Venturous, released a new trailer today celebrating Voyage‘s launch.
As for what Voyage is, it’s described as a simple story about two survivors looking for answers. Voyage is an adventure game, focusing largely on exploration and light interaction. The game features no dialogue, instead focusing on immersive, non-violent narrative, and is intended for players of all kinds. Suffice to say, while Voyage may have some basic puzzles and actions, they’re not likely to be too challenging. Rather, they’re there to influence the pacing and mood of Voyage‘s storytelling.
Voyage does have one other significant feature, however. It also supports cooperative play either locally or via Steam’s Remote Play Together feature. Whether Voyage is played single-player or co-op, it features two main protagonists. Both will be required to progress through the game, so having a friend available to control one character will add to the overall experience.
For its first week of availability on Steam, Voyage will be discounted 10% down from $14.99 to $13.49. It’s a relatively short game, perhaps best compared to a film. For those looking to relax and enjoy themselves for an evening, Voyage will hopefully be worth consideration.
Voyage is available now on PC.
