The Flash Movie Finds Its Supergirl | Game Rant

The upcoming Flash movie, which will see Ezra Miller reprising the role of Barry Allen, has officially added yet another superhero to its roster. Director Andy Muschietti announced, via a conversation he posted to his Instagram account, that actor Sasha Calle had been selected to play the role. Calle became visibly emotional once the director made it clear that she had been chosen to wear the red cape.

Muschietti had a bit of fun first, asking Calle if she had the ability to physically fly. Even though the actor said that, no, she couldn’t, Muschietti still told her that she would need the right outfit, holding up the famous Supergirl  ‘S’ to show the camera. It was a sweet look behind the scenes of a young actor finally landing the part they have always wanted. Calle has appeared in a number of short films, but her highest-profile role is as Lola Rosales on the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless. This will mark her first feature film role.

The actor will be joining Miller’s titular superhero, as well as Ben Affleck’s Batman. Michael Keaton will also appear in the movie, reprising his own versions of Bruce Wayne and Batman. Another hero, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, was also supposed to appear in the movie. However, due to behind-the-scenes issues, which have been disagreed upon by both Fisher and the studio, the character was written out of the script. Fisher has been vocal about his negative experience in filming Justice League with Joss Whedon. He has openly criticized Warner Bros. for their handling of the issues on-set.

The film is expected to be heavily inspired by the Flashpoint storyline in the comics, where Barry Allen travels back in time in order to save his mother. In doing so, the hero drastically changes the future. Producer Barbara Muschietti has stated that this movie will be used to essentially reset the DCEU, while still allowing the previous movies to exist and be acknowledged. It would also be convenient in understanding how the studio will be able to tell parallel stories in separate movies featuring the same characters. For example, Robert Pattinson’s Batman will exist outside of established DCEU continuity.

The Flash may not be the only movie diving into older superhero movies to bring them into the present. there is plenty of fan speculation that the third as-yet-untitled MCU Spider-Man movie may take a cue from its animated counterpart Into the Spider-Verse and bring back previous Spider-Men and villains like Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock.
