Marvel’s Avengers – The Most Worrying Parts of the Hawkeye Deep Dive For Fans

After months of waiting, the Clint Barton Hawkeye Deep Dive finally arrived earlier this week and offered Marvel’s Avengers fans some more details about the game’s second free add-on character. Fans have been eager for new content and reassurance that the game is moving in the right direction, so seeing a new character’s gameplay in action was definitely a welcome site.

That said, despite confirmation that Hawkeye’s toolkit looks like fun, and some awesome comics accurate skins, the livestream still left some parts of the community feeling a little uneasy about the path forward for Marvel’s Avengers and what hints were offered about the future of the game.

Many of the complaints came from players who are have already invested a serious number of hours in the game and have maxed out the existing heroes. Understandably, that crowd is running out of activities to keep themselves busy and the weekly rotation of Priority Missions and HARM Challenges may be starting to get more than a little stale.

All it takes is a quick visit to the PlayAvengers subreddit to see that a vocal portion of the community was surprised and disappointed by the March 18 release date. Some fans had the unrealistic expectation that the character would be available for play by the end of the week, while others seemed to think any release by the end of February would’ve been acceptable.

By the time the March 18 release date for Hawkeye rolls around, the game will have been out for roughly six months and released just two add-on characters. Although there was never an official road map, there seemed to be an expectation that the game would be received monthly updates to add new characters and villains frequently. At this pace, it feels like Black Panther and Spider-Man are still a long way off

At the end of the Kate Bishop Deep Dive, players got a view brief tease of the Clint content that would be following Kate’s release and story. Not only did that tag at the end of the presentation feel very Marvel in theme, but it also helped reassure players that the game has a future. Some fans are feeling a bit worried after the Hawkeye Deep Dive lacked any sort of teaser for what comes after March 18.

It should be noted that these teasers can be a bit of a double edged sword. They do help reassure fans that the game has a planned future, but they also raise even more questions about release dates, road maps, and schedules. It’s quite possible (and likely) that the developers are already hard at work on whatever comes after Hawkeye’s missions, but doesn’t want to raise more road map questions by revealing too much at once.

This complaints was pretty common throughout the Kate content, as well. First players had to revisit Taskmaster and now there are theories that the main villain in the Clint content is just going to be a reskinned Abomination fight. The game is definitely lacking a variety of bosses and could use some more challengers to help keep endgame players busy as they grind for new/better gear and resources.

In addition to the bosses, there’s also the issue of robot grunts that feel like more of the same. Since the earliest days of beta testing players have been offering feedback that a lack of enemy variety is an issue in the game, but so far AIM bots seem to be the only grunts challenging the heroes.

More details about the Hawkeye content should continue to arrive in the coming weeks as the March 18 release date approaches for his operation and the new generation versions of the game. Until then, be sure to check back frequently for more Marvel’s Avengers news, guides, and updates.

Marvel’s Avengers is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming March 18.
