Call of Duty: Warzone features dozens of skins for its operators to wear, though one Roze skin has caused an incredible amount of controversy. While Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has ensured fans that a fix is coming, the skin still managed to reappear in the store’s featured section.
For those unfamiliar with Call of Duty: Warzone’s invisible skin, the popular operator Roze can be given an alternate design called “Rook.” While this keeps her signature mask intact, everything else changes about her design, as Rook’s green armor is replaced with a thin black wetsuit. Though this may seem like just another cool, alternate look for the character, the reality is that the fully black nature of the skin makes it almost impossible to see Roze inside of buildings.
As such, players have determined that this Roze skin is pay-to-win, demanding its removal and pleading with Raven Software to take action. Fortunately, after several clips of “invisible” Roze players hiding in corners appeared online, Raven promised that a fix would be coming soon. While this would normally be great news, the fact that the skin has re-appeared in the shop right before the outfit is fixed has angered players like u/GitS0me — with the player saying that Raven and Activision are encouraging the skin to be abused one last time.
While a few other Call of Duty: Warzone costumes have been broken, the fixes are usually swift, with players not needing to deal with any unfairness for long. In the case of Roze’s “Rook” look, though, it has plagued the game for quite some time — and this odd in-game store timing has seemingly given it a chance to have one lasts hoorah. Unsurprisingly, this has not gone over well with Call of Duty: Warzone fans that have been pushing for the skin’s removal, with Redditor Niceguysfinishlast5 saying “they’re just rubbing it in our faces now.”
Reddit user -dannydecheeto- believes that “they’re just getting people to waste money on it before they fix it,” with the player adding that they loved the design but stopped using it when they realized it provides an unfair advantage. Considering that whatever change comes to the outfit may make it less appealing, the fan’s logic makes sense. At the same time, there could just be a set rotation of bundles in the shop, with Raven Software forgetting to remove the Roze pack ahead of the fix.
For at least a bit longer, though, it seems like players will be dealing with invisible Roze players. While the clever trick of spraying skin-wearers during pre-game lobbies could help others in the match, hopefully, players will not have to use creative workarounds to deal with a random skin for too much longer.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
