Why a Bob’s Burgers Video Game Would Just Make Sense | Game Rant

Fox’s animated series Bob’s Burgers follows the life of Bob Belcher, his wife Linda, and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise. The family, much as the title implies, run a burger restaurant that has regular customers like Teddy and Mort, with the latter owning the crematorium next door to the restaurant. There are other recurring characters as well, like Mr. Fischoeder the landlord as well as the kids’ plethora of acquaintances and classmates at school. Though it took Bob’s Burgers until about the third season to really hit its stride with the critics, it’s still going strong as a relevant, hilarious animated show.

Currently, there are no plans for a Bob’s Burgers video game, but that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be one down the road. There are, however, plans for a Bob’s Burgers movie, but they’ve been indefinitely postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The closest Bob’s Burgers has come to a video game is a digital pinball adaptation add-on for Pinball FX 2, Pinball FX 3, and Zen Pinball 2. For a show rich with storytelling, though, there are tons of other video game opportunities and plotlines that are ripe for the taking.

One of the more obvious choices for a Bob’s Burgers video game would be a character-based set up, where each level pertains to a different member of the Belcher family. Bob could receive a Cooking Mama-esque level, where players must correctly time actions to help him create the Burger of the Day. It could then turn into a similar situation to that of the Cooking Mama mobile game, where Bob will have to run orders out to customers and make sure he keeps everything in stock. It would be like a mini-restaurant simulator, but only for Bob’s level of the game.

Or, instead of Bob running the orders, Linda’s level could consist of her taking food to customers, but with the added twist that she drinks a glass of wine while waiting for food to come out of the kitchen. She’ll start to lose her balance and will have to be sure not to spill the food while she struggles to make it to the customer. The level could end with her being victorious and successfully handing out all the food, or she passes out and wakes up with a bad wine-hangover.

The kids’ levels are where things can get really creative and out-of-the-box. The Belcher children have a life outside of the restaurant as much as in it, and Tina could kick things off with a mini dating simulator based on all her romantic interests throughout the show. Guest appearances by Jimmy Jr. and Josh would be crucial in Tina’s level. Gene’s level would consist of playing in-time to his portable keyboard, with the occasional fart noise thrown in. Louise is chaos incarnate, so her level would have to be something just as out-of-pocket and over-the-top as her.

Once the Bob’s Burgers movie is created and released, it wouldn’t be the first animated show to get a movie and turn it into a video game. Both SpongeBob SquarePants and The Simpsons did it, so it wouldn’t be shocking or surprising to see Bob’s Burgers get a video game adaptation following the plot of the movie. In fact, the upcoming movie musical comedy will also incorporate Louise in her fantasy world with her Kuchi Kopi nightlight, which could very easily translate into a video game level.

Though this may not be Bob’s Burgers fans’ first choice for a video game, there are currently fanmade recreations of Burgerboss, the arcade game Bob becomes addicted to in the episode “Burgerboss.” One Dreams player even made a Bob’s Burgers level in the game, though fans can only watch it rather than play it. While there are no plans currently for a Bob’s Burgers video game, there are tons of video game adaptation opportunities in the making based on the show alone, not to mention the upcoming movie.
