Twitch streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel is no stranger to getting chastised or even banned for his behavior online. Since 2019, the former professional Overwatch player has been temporarily removed from Twitch or other platforms four times, the most recent being a DMCA Twitter suspension for a 10-second clip xQc had posted of a livestream over a year prior.
While that suspension might be for a tame reason, the streamer has been banned from Twitch in the past for stream sniping during a Fall Guys Twitch Rivals event, showing nudity on his channel while playing an adult-rated video game called Strip 4: Classmate Study, and for watching a YouTube video during his stream called “Safe For Work Porn” that turned out to not be safe for work.
Even when xQc isn’t temporarily suspended from a platform, drama seems to follow wherever he goes, to the point where fellow Twitch streamer Shroud predicted that xQc’s addition to OfflineTV’s private Rust server would cause the otherwise peaceful collaboration to “implode.” While that didn’t happen, xQc’s invitation to the exclusive Grand Theft Auto 5 role-playing server NoPixel did go somewhat predictably wrong.
The GTA 5 NoPixel server has attracted some well-known streamers such as Summit1g, Ludwig, and sodapoppin, so it wasn’t surprising that popular personality xQc eventually received an invite as well. Because NoPixel is a role-playing server, it grants some freedom for players to behave as they wish, but there are rules. One of these includes not hitting other players with a car, known as vehicle deathmatch or VDM, and xQc was duly told about these gameplay limitations.
The streamer joined the NoPixel server as a role-playing troublemaker, scamming Grand Theft Auto 5 players in get-rich-quick schemes and escaping from the police after being arrested. However, xQc eventually went too far for server admins, as over the course of several days he began striking other roleplayers with his car and then fleeing the scene.
The NoPixel moderators scheduled a meeting with the streamer to speak with him about his recent vehicular antics as well as other issues that had cropped up with fellow players but, claiming that he’d overslept, xQc was a no show to the meeting. On February 22, the next time the Twitch streamer attempted to login to the NoPixel server, he discovered that he had been banned via a message that read: “Connection rejected by server. You are banned. You may appeal it at nopixel.net. Reasons: Talk required with Staff. Unban Date: Permanent.”
The streamer claims he was unaware of the rules when he started driving his car into other players, and therefore didn’t think his behavior merited a server ban. “Yeah, I broke the rules. I said I wouldn’t do any more VDM and people know that though,” he said. “I didn’t know you couldn’t ram in that context.” Because he learned about the ban unexpectedly during a stream, xQc played Minecraft instead, and it’s uncertain whether he has contacted the NoPixel server moderators about lifting the ban.
