Respawn Entertainment has released an update for Apex Legends that fixes a minor bug with character skins. In patch 1.59, the developer aimed to eliminate some additional glitches hindering the experience in Apex Legends.
As a free-to-play Battle Royale, the game brings in an extensive community of fans. With such a wide breadth of players joining matches, there are going to be glitches, and Apex Legends even has some of the most hacking. These bugs can range from cosmetic to game-breaking, and from the recent patch, it looks like Respawn is trying to resolve some surface-level issues.
The main problem deals with the visuals for character skins. The glitch could appear regardless of hero, with cases occurring for Legends like Bloodhound, Lifeline, and Loba. From the player’s perspective, their personal hero’s texture changes to a monotone grey color. Equipping seasonal skins in Apex Legends is a big part of character customization, so this issue is noticeable. However, with this new update, Respawn claims that the heroes with grey skins have now been fixed.
The team behind Apex Legends also focused on improving other aspects of the game in its current state. The second point from the 1.59 patch notes describes how there are several stability fixes. While vague, this type of update typically deals with complications behind the scenes. After releasing the patch, Respawn did extend the deadline for the Anniversary Collection event. With many players having trouble logging in recently, the festivities will now go until March 2 instead of February 23.
It is good to see that the developers are bringing out a quick fix for the character skin bug. Players can spend a lot of time grinding the game for enough currency or luck to earn the highest tier designs. To have all the effort go to waste because of a simple graphical issue is going to be frustrating. The stability improvements should also help Apex Legends continue to run fairly well for those enjoying the Battle Royale.
The thing is, many will probably be wondering why these are the problems Respawn is focusing on. There are currently game-breaking problems, like the infinite loading glitch or being unable to loot death boxes. Fans could probably deal with an occasional glitch with character textures, so it seems like the team’s priorities are a bit questionable. Nevertheless, those who were annoyed by the skin glitch can hop back in to enjoy Apex Legends for the time being.
Apex Legends is on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version releasing on March 9.
