Pokemon GO: Best Lapras Counters (2021) | Game Rant

Although Legendary and Mega Evolutions tend to get the most attention on the Pokemon GO Battle Raid scene, they are far from the only bosses around for trainers to challenge. The lower tiers of Battle Raids often contain some very exciting Pokemon for the PoGO meta game and some of those bosses are far from soloable.

Lapras is one recurring Battle Raid boss that tends to be quite popular when it appears. The Pokemon is pretty powerful and definitely holds a key space in the PvP scene, as well as having some decent uses in PvE battles occasionally. With that in mind, Pokemon GO players may want to revisit their Lapras counters before heading into battle with the Raid Boss to avoid any issues during the battle.

Lapras has been around for a long time and players likely have some very strong counters set aside for the battle, but don’t forget that Mega Evolutions, new move sets, and new evolutions can often offer some more powerful options. It’s well worth revisiting the top tier list of Lapras counters and seeing if any of the newer options can help improve existing saved rosters.

Lapras is a dual Water- and Ice-type, which means that it is going to be weak to Electric, Fighting-, Grass- and Rock-types. Players can exploit those weaknesses to make the fight a lot easier, but it would still be wise to head into the battle with three or four friends to ensure a victory.

Venusaur (Mega) – Vine Whip/Frenzy Plant

Zekrom – Charge Beam/Wild Charge

Lucario – Counter/Aura Sphere

Conkeldurr – Counter/Dynamic Punch

Raikou – Thunder Shock/Wild Charge

Keldeo (Ordinary) – Low Kick/Close Combat

Magnezone – Spark/Wild Charge

Keldeo (Resolute) – Low Kick/Close Combat

Gengar (Mega) – Lick/Focus Blast

Machamp – Counter/Dynamic Punch

Kyurem (White) – Dragon Breath/Focus Blast

Terrakion – Smack Down/Rock Slide

As always, trainers should always keep in mind that the list presented represents the best counters and move sets based on the current meta game. It’s not the end of the world if any trainers can’t pull together a roster of that quality though. The main thing to keep in mind is that the selected roster should focus on using the best Electric- and Fighting-type Pokemon available.

As long as players team up with a decent group of other trainers and avoid Lapras’ resistances, it should be possible to win the raid and move on to the encounter. Keep in mind that team and damage bonuses can help players secure additional Premium Pokeballs to use during the reward encounter though, so being a top damage dealer has its perks.

Over the next week or so players should begin to learn a lot more about what other events are on the way throughout the Season of Legends. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
