Just like Season 1, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 will give players access to another Assault Rifle and SMG. The new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Assault Rifle is called the FARA 83, and while it looks like a strong addition to the game’s weapon lineup, unlocking it is remarkably easy.
Considering that the Season 1 additions of the MAC-10 SMG and the Groza Assault Rifle have been dominating the meta since their arrival, it will be interesting to see if the Season 2 weaponry can do the same. In the action-packed trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s new battle pass, the FARA-83 was described as “deadly at long range,” confirming that players will find success with the fully automatic rifle in Call of Duty: Warzone and larger modes like Fireteam Dirty Bomb.
Much like what happened in the entirety of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, players will unlock the new weapon through Battle Pass progression. Specifically, players will need to reach the 15th Tier of the Season 2 Pass. As is the case with other Seasonal weapon additions, these will be free unlocks for all players, meaning that those who do and do not buy the pass can gain access to the weapon just by playing.
While the LC10 SMG will take a bit longer to unlock, as that gun does not unlock until Tier 31, players should have no issue getting their hands on the FARA in a timely manner. Players can progress through the pass regardless of what they enjoy playing as well. Call of Duty Zombies fans can push through the ranks via some high-round matches, while Call of Duty: Warzone fans can drop into Verdansk to make some progress of well. Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer will progress the pass as well, obviously.
While Tier 15 should only take fans a day or two to reach, players that want access to the gun as soon as possible can progress through the tiers quicker using COD Points. Just like Operator Bundles and the Battle Pass itself, players can buy their way through each tier for 150 COD Points — or about $1.50. If players want to get their hands on the FARA 83 Assault Rifle immediately, 2250 COD Points will need to be spent.
For those not interested in spending real money, though, just playing the game normally is the best way to unlock the FARA 83 and any other tier of the Battle Pass. With Season 2 bringing fresh content to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War like the open-world Zombies mode Outbreak and Gun Game, fans have plenty of options for how to progress through the pass. Players can also bank on at least one Double Battle Pass XP weekend during Season 2, as Season 1 had a few brief periods where players could fly through the tiers. Lastly, keeping an eye on random free bundles in the store would be wise, as they occasionally provide free tier skips.
