Fans of horror games on PC have yet another in-development title to keep an eye on. Wednesday mid-day saw the announcement of Dark Moonlight, a survival horror game being made for PC. The first-person horror game offers up a variety of challenging puzzles, as well as weapon-based combat and boss fights. Developed by Silent Bear Studio and published by Black Rose Projects, both based in Poland, Dark Moonlight is being made for PC and has yet to announce a release window.
The story of Dark Moonlight involves protagonist Dave Kellerman receiving an experimental medical treatment to deal with his severe phobias. Kellerman’s treatment appears to go seriously wrong, as can happen in horror games. The result is Kellerman’s phobias being brought to life, with Kellerman himself being transported to a dark world filled with nightmares, demons, and monsters. Kellerman must discover what’s happening to himself and the world around him, or die in the process.
For the time being, details regarding Dark Moonlight‘s planned features are thin. Silent Bear Studio mentions the player acquiring weapons, fighting monsters, and solving puzzles, a la a Resident Evil 7 first-person style of survival horror. A short in-engine trailer for Dark Moonlight doesn’t provide much more context, though it gives a more haunting look at what awaits players.
According to Silent Bear Studio, Dark Moonlight is inspired by several different horror priorities, the most direct of which is the Netflix series Black Mirror. As for games that Silent Bear Studio is influenced by, Outlast, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill are mentioned. Suffice to say, Dark Moonlight is being made by fans of the horror genre’s classics.
Dark Moonlight is currently in development for PC.
