Destiny 2: How to Complete Captain’s Log Challenge | Game Rant

It’s been just over three years since the original release of Destiny 2, Bungie’s genre-defining multiplayer looter-shooter. The game has received multiple expansions over that time, keeping the lore and gameplay fresh for veteran players. Some of the most intriguing additions to Destiny 2 are the hidden Exotic quests, special missions that are tricky to find.

Last week a new hidden mission, Presage, was added to Destiny 2. The mission takes place on a seemingly-abandoned Cabal ship, the Glykon. In order for players to unravel the mystery of the ship, they’ll need to scan certain items. Doing so will complete the Captain’s Log Seasonal Challenge.

Before players can even think about completing the Captain’s Log Challenge in Season of the Chosen, they’ll first have to unlock the Presage Exotic quest itself. This is done in the The Arms Dealer Strike, by taking a new, alternative path out of the first room. This path will eventually lead to a landing pad with a large gray crate. Interacting with it will allow players to pick up the Cabal Distress Signal leading to the Glykon.

The objects needed for the Captain’s Log Challenge won’t be available on the first run through the Presage mission in Destiny 2. However, on all future attempts they can be scanned. The first of the objects is found shortly after players enter the ship itself. Players will discover some unusual plant-life that’s absorbing Cabal bodies. Scan the bodies to get the first hint of the Glykon’s story.

The next item that players will need to scan to complete the Captain’s Log Challenge is just before the area where players need to jump a gap using spores. Instead of using the spores, jump without them, then take a right to find some Scorn Helmets. The third item is much easier to find, and is located in the hangar bay. Simply scan the ship at the far end of the hangar to complete the objective.

The fourth item is a lot trickier, and can be found after defeating some of Destiny 2‘s Corrupted Screeb enemies. Players will find themselves shooting out an electrical barrier and then pressing a series of switches. In the room with the last switch is a pile of cannisters, scan these to complete the next stage of the Challenge.

The fifth and final item to scan isn’t available until players have defeated the Locus of Communion, one of Destiny 2‘s bosses. After exiting the boss arena into the shaft, players should head away from the exit to find a secret room. Scan the hologram within to complete the Captain’s Log Challenge and earn a Triumph.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
