Although Destruction AllStars features some frenetic car smashing action, the game itself has struggled to make much of an impact with gamers. Despite its status as a free download for players with a PS Plus subscription, Destruction Allstars was met with lukewarm reception for various issues, like its monetization system and voice chat problems. But the game hasn’t even been out for a full month yet, and developer Lucid Games has plans for new content to keep fans playing.
Lucid Games has been actively fixing issues with Destruction AllStars as players discover them. In response to issues that prevented matchmaking for online battles and also affected player level, Lucid Games released an update to address the issues along with other quality of life changes. Another recent update seems to fix PS5 crashing issues in Destruction AllStars. With many of the technical issues in the game addressed, Lucid Games wants to move forward with plans to roll out new content over the next few months.
In a blog post, Community Manager George Rule thanks fans for all of their feedback on improving Destruction AllStars before launching into discussing the game’s future content roadmap. Included in the roadmap are some specific events scheduled to take place over the next two months, as well as changes to playlists in Destruction AllStars. March is the most packed month with featured playlists Mayhem 8v8 and Stockpile 4v4, 10 new Skins, more double XP weekends, and AllStar Bluefang’s Challenge Series. April will contain more double XP weekends and feature the Carnado Solo playlist.
Rule also takes the time in his post to outline the Challenge Series in Destruction AllStars and explains what exclusive goods players can get by playing in them. Challenge Series always feature one AllStar, and their journeys provide players with exclusive skins and cosmetics. Challenge Series also introduce unique game modes to players besides the four-game modes featured during Destruction AllStars’ launch: Mayhem, Carnado, Stockpile, and Gridfall. Some modes available in the Challenge Series are the time trial based Crash Course mode and the Showdown mode, which pits the featured AllStar against their Rival.
Destruction AllStars is also getting a massive price drop, going from $70 to $20 with this announcement. Along with this, Lucid Games is in the process of making some changes to the Destruction Points currency system. Right now this currency can only be purchased from the PlayStation Store, but Lucid Games plans to make this currency available by playing in-game activities in the near future. These changes should make Destruction AllStars less of a financial commitment and might help grow its player base.
Destruction AllStars is available now as a PS5 exclusive.
