The Hitman franchise is famous for giving players the freedom to choose their own methods of accomplishing their goals, and in this regard Hitman 3 is no different. With so many options available, it is likely many players will go through the game without realizing there were gameplay options that they didn’t even know existed.
Some of the information in this article will already be known to some players, but there is probably an entry or two below that will reveal some secrets about the game, or gameplay options in the game, of which many people were unaware.
10 Unarmed Zoom-In
Like many similar games, players can press and hold a button to aim their currently held weapon. This usually zooms in the player’s view of the targeted area. In Hitman 3, this zooming-in can be done, but it can also be done if you’re not holding a weapon.
The effect of this is twofold. First, it zooms in on the targeted area to give players a better view. However, doing this also increases the volume of anything in the targeted area. This is very helpful when you want to eavesdrop on a conversation and pick up some useful information.
9 Holding Down The Subdue Button
One of the most used types of eliminating someone in Hitman 3 (or any game in the series) is to subdue them. This is done by getting close to the intended victim without being noticed. When you get close enough to the target, an indicator will appear telling you to press the specified button to begin the subdue takedown.
What many players never discovered was that the subdue button can be held down as you approach your victim. Once you get within range for a subdual, the action is immediately performed. This helps reduce the likelihood of accidentally compromising yourself by not pressing the button in time.
8 Windows
Fans of the Assassin’s Creed games are already familiar with lurking outside a window and performing a kill by pulling the victim through it. This can be done in Hitman 3 as well. There are other options for players when looking through a window though.
Guns, which are normally not the wisest choice in weapon in this game, can be fired through windows with some degree of anonymity. Windows are also a great way for players to find alternate routes to a destination; this is especially true in Dubai.
7 Eliminate Everyone
Players will generally go through this game trying to only engage enemies when absolutely necessary, and only eliminate a target if it furthers 47’s progress through a level. However, it is possible to eliminate everyone in a level.
The sheer number of people populating these levels makes it seem like this task would be impossible. For starters, where are you going to stash all those bodies? It can be done though, just be prepared to spend several hours playing and to test your patience.
6 Stash Multiple Bodies
In previous Hitman games, players could only stash one body in certain locations such as a closet. Hitman 3 changed this formula and now allows multiple bodies to be stored in these areas. This is a tremendous help. Now the possibility of dragging a body into an unsecured area looking for an empty stash spot is not as much of a problem.
Players that are new to the Hitman games might not have known about this limit in previous games. However, stashing multiple bodies in one stash spot is something fans of the previous Hitman games might have not even tried when playing the latest installment.
5 Crouching Throw
Every player of the Hitman games is probably well aware that it’s possible to throw objects while in a crouching position. That isn’t what this entry is about, for the most part anyway. What some players might not have noticed while playing is that throwing an object while crouched has a noticeably faster animation than throwing an object while standing.
Like holding down the subdue button, this split-second change in the throwing animations is enough that it might mean the difference between performing a stealthy takedown and being compromised.
4 Additional Dialogue
Time is of the essence in the Hitman games as every second counts when trying to subdue or eliminate targets. So, when engaging opponents, most players are quick to pull the trigger or finish the process of subduing someone. However, if a player waits they can hear some additional dialogue from their target.
Holding someone at gunpoint or keeping them in a headlock can cause them to start talking. Usually, this is simple dialogue, such as cursing 47 or pleading for their life. Occasionally, 47 can get some useful information out of a victim doing this.
3 Save-Scumming
Save-scumming is nothing new to gaming. For the uninitiated, this is the practice of saving before attempting something in-game. If you fail, you simply reload and try again. Save-scumming is extremely useful in Hitman 3, and not just for retrying a failed attack.
Each level has a number of achievements to perform – some are listed and some are secret. Completing all of these achievements during one playthrough of a level can be quite difficult. Via save-scumming, a player can complete these achievements without replaying the entire stage from the beginning.
2 QR Code
This entry is pretty cool. In Hitman 3, there are QR codes that Agent 47 can scan with his camera. These have a variety of uses; some are there to be scanned to unlock achievements, others have more practical in-game purposes. There is one QR code hidden in the game that has real-world results.
In the testing lab in Chongqing, there is a patient in a bathroom on the top floor with a QR code tattooed on the back of his head. Have 47 take a picture of this code with his camera. Now take out your phone and use it to scan the QR code in this photo (an app is needed for this). This will take players to a site that has a picture of some of the developers of Hitman 3.
1 Secret Ending
The final level, Carpathian Mountains, has the player trying to eliminate Arthur Edwards. There are more than a few methods to accomplish this. One of these methods is to use the serum that 47 can acquire on Arthur to erase his memories.
What many players never tried was using this serum on Agent 47 instead. If they hesitate when encountering Arthur an option appears on screen for Agent 47 to inject himself. This causes 47 to pass out, and then wake-up in a padded cell. Fans of the series will recognize this scene from the opening of the first Hitman game.
