Much like with the arrival of the previous season of content, several changes have been made to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for Season 2. Amongst these changes are several scorestreak adjustments, many of which should be seeing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players getting their hands on streaks quicker.
While map changes to Moscow and the addition of Outbreak mode to Zombies may be getting a lot of attention, the scorestreak changes could have a major impact on gameplay. Alongside the previously announced debut of the Death Machine, a massive minigun that should be very familiar to fans of Treyarch’s previous games, four scorestreaks have been changed. The Air Patrol, Attack Helicopter, and VTOL Escort all being lowered in cost, while the Counter Spy Plane cost is being altered in another direction, as the streak is being made a bit harder to obtain.
Like previous scorestreak cost adjustments, Treyarch detailed the changes via a set of patch Notes, and players will see the reduced prices as soon as they login to the game and begin playing the Season 2 content. Starting with the Counter Spy Plane, players will see the cost increased 200 points — going from a requirement of 1200 to 1400. Cooldown time was bumped up 30 seconds as well, and it now sits at 90 seconds. With Counter Spy Planes fairly prevalent in multiplayer, this seems like a wise change.
As for the streaks that will be easier to earn, the counter-streak Air Patrol can now be obtained for 2400 points as opposed to 2700 — ensuring that players can destroy aerial streaks of opponents with ease. The Attack Helicopter has been lowered back to 4500 points after having been raised to 5000 following a previous patch, a move that should make players more interested in running the helicopter. Lastly, the VTOL Escort has been lowered to 6500 points, with the 500 point decrease making one of the game’s strongest streaks a lot easier to obtain.
Several bug fixes tied to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s scorestreaks were also mentioned, such as a fix for a recent Care Package glitch that has been making the marker disappear. The inconsistent lock on for Cruise Missiles have been fixed, while a bug that sees Spy Planes not working on those near a Jammer has been dealt with. H.A.R.P. users were also encountering the same problem with Jammer immunity, though much like the Spy Plane fix, it should no longer be happening in-game.
These scorestreak changes all seem to be based on community feedback, something that should lead to the adjustments being positively received. As such, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans should have an even better time exploring Season 2’s new maps and modes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
