Destiny 2: How to Get Retold Tale Legendary Shotgun | Game Rant

Destiny 2 will often produce weapons that manage to punch above their weight class in many activities. Many Guardians have fond memories of the Retold Tale Legendary Shotgun and were happy to see it return with the Season of the Chosen. While Felwinter’s Lie may still dominate the Crucible, the Retold Tale can give it a run for its money with the right perks.

To get the Retold Tale, players will need to make their way to the Dreaming City and finish activities there. Completions of the Blind Well, public events, opening world chests, and finishing Bounties can result in players getting the Retold Tale as a reward. It is also possible to get the Retold Tale by running the Shattered Throne dungeon and opening chests in that activity.

Almost as important as getting the weapon itself is finding a good roll from the random pool of perks that the Retold Tale can drop with. As a returning weapon in Destiny 2, the Retold Tale can now have newer perks such as Dual Loader and Surplus, adding more variety to the weapon.

Players will need to be on the lookout for different perks depending on their needs. For a PvP-focused weapon, Full Choke or Rifled Barrel will increase the effective one-shot range of the weapon, while Accurized Rounds will increase the overall range. Quickdraw will allow players to switch to the weapon incredibly fast, or Slideways will allow them to reload while sliding, a common movement tactic in the Crucible. Finally, Snapshot Sights will increase the speed at which players can aim down sights while Killing Wind will cause kills with the weapon to buff movement speed, range, and handling.

For players looking for a more PvE-focused weapon to help them complete Destiny 2’s many weekly challenges, Full Choke is a must and can be combined with Accurized Rounds or Assault Mag for improved range or rate of fire. Some players may prefer to go with Appended Mag or Tactical Mag to improve magazine size. Quickdraw is still a viable option for the third perk column, while the last perk could be Demolitionist to increase grenade recharge from kills. Full Choke as a first perk also combines wonderfully with One-Two Punch as a final perk, giving increased melee damage if every pellet from the Shotgun hits a target.

Players who have been struggling to complete the Iron Banner quest could do worse than making their way to the Dreaming City and grinding a Retold Tale to swing those close-quarters fight in their favor, especially if they are lucky enough to get one of the above rolls.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light and the new Season of the Chosen are available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
